Vinyl, VHS, BETA, DVDs all in the same thread! .. where have I been? .. this was such an interesting thread :smile: .. my VHS collection is still quite large.. I have every episode of the original Twilight Zone, because I haven't been able to afford the DVDs yet, and most of Tales From the Darkside as well... I have started to phase out VHS, though, because I just got a VHS/DVD recorder, and I've been transfering my VHS tapes over (usually at the highest quality possible, since most of the tapes are quite old, which limits me to about an hour per DVD).. but now I can happily say that I have a DVD copy of Sundown: The Vampire in Retreat, my all-time favorite vampire movie and one that is sadly underrated and needs a proper DVD release..

::tangent::
it's a great little movie, albeit somewhat campy, directed by Anthony Hickox, who did the Waxwork movies, and staring David Carradine and Bruce Campbell about a group of vampires who are trying to stop killing humans and are working on getting a synthetic blood plant going.. the funny thing is that they live in the desert, so they wear sunglasses, wide-brimmed hats, and SPF 1000 sunscreen for protection.. and it has a wonderful twist ending
::end of tangent::

my vinyl collection is getting smaller everyday.. I've given most of them to my brother, as he has a record player, and I do not.. but I remember the first record I ever bought with my own money was Springsteen's Born in the U.S.A. in the summer of 1984.. man, I love that album!

like many of you, I never knew anyone with a BETA player either.. VHS seemed much more popular at the time

my DVD collection is currently growing daily.. I really think I have a problem.. I just hit the 350 mark the other day, and I've got three more coming sometime early next week.. I just love movies so much, and the fact that these DVDs will undoubtedly last as long as I'm alive.. or as long a vision holds out.. at any rate, much longer than my VHS tapes, many of which are well on their way to being unwatchable.. anyway, it makes the purchases worthwhile
Yeah, my DVD collection is ever-growing. Within the last week, I bought The Sergio Leone Anthology (which contains SEs of Fistful of Dollars, For a Few Dollars More, The Good, The Bad & The Ugly and Duck You Sucker! The version of GBU is the same one released a couple years ago), two just-released films that I've heard about but have never seen, Charley's Aunt (1941) with Jack Benny, and The Three Musketeers (1939), starring the Ritz Brothers.

Another interesting title I picked up (though I haven't watched it yet) is a new version of The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari. The film is supposedly a scene-for-scene remake of the original 1919 silent film, but with sound. It's filmed in black and white, the costumes are close reproductions of the originals, and -- here's the big "gimmick" -- the filmmakers have incorporated the cast into the sets of the original, via green screen.

I bought Born in the USA on vinyl when it came out, too!

btw, my favorite modern vampire film is John Carpenter's Vampire$. It's just so over-the-top and crazy, ya gotta love it, especially James Woods as a vampire hunter extraordinaire.

Yeah, my DVD library has been growing quite a bit lately too, but like I said, I've got all this graduation money to spend, and now the time's ripe to buy the titles I've been meaning to for quite a while.

Nothing? Not a single thing? How could you NOT get ANYTHING for graduation? Didn't you at least get any cards of congratulations?

Wow! I have to say that that sound's pretty shallow.:stick_out_tongue:
I know, 'tis. What is this world coming to?

Yeah. I've heard a few tracks off the first Muppet Show album, but never the whole thing. The first two albums should be released on CD!

My vinyl collection is always growing. The last one I picked up was the first Elvis LP from 1956.
Wow! 1956? Awesome! I have a perty early Elvis LP as well, it's a Christmas one and it looks like it's from the '50s. I'll have to check next time I see it. Same ere, I love to collect vinyls! :smile:

Oh- and I totally agree, the first two Muppet Show albums should be released on CD, but you can download them from the Muppet Musique site. If you havn't checked it out already, I recommend it! :smile:

Yeah, your right! It's cool!:smile: I don't want to sound like I feel I'm entitled to anything of or something.

I still adore VHS. They have different feel to them in comparison to DVD's.

My DVD collection is close to 6,000 at this point, but we STILL own many VHS tapes for movies that don't have DVD releases, such as The African Queen.
