Oh nice. I missed the National when they played this two day festival in San Francisco I went to. I went for day one which was LCD Soundsystem, Deadmau5, Miike Snow, Die Antword, etc but day two was Belle and Sebastian, The National, Zoey Descenel's She and Him, etc. But pretty much I adore any band who admits having a Joy Division influence. Sadly I have a hard time getting any of my friends into "indie" sort of music.
I'd like to see She & Him sometime. I've seen M.Ward a ton during the past 10 years, and have seen him perform She & Him songs solo, but never with Zooey.

Brkndwnbus: What other bands could you recommend, either major/indie or super underground? Pretty much I love shoegazer, Joy Division/Suede/Suicide/Roxy Music/Velvet Underground/Smiths influenced bands, some indie folk stuff, anything like MGMT/Empire of the Sun/Foster the People/Phoenix, Florence and the Machine, Phantogram, and any band with a Talking Heads influence.

To throw in some more to my faves list: Frightened Rabbit, Wilco, Wolfe Parade, Whiskeytown, Cursive, Thrice, The Swell Season, The Stills, Stars, The Slip, The Shins, Say Hi, Red House Painters, Rilo Kiley, Ray LaMontagne, The New Pornographers, The Postal Service, All-Time Quarterback, Pavement, The Felice Brothers.

My top 5 or so though: Justin Townes Earle, Ryan Adams (Ryan Adams and the Cardinals, Whiskeytown - and the many other names he has been a part of solo or with a band), Ryan Bingham and the Dead Horses, Spoon, My Morning Jacket, Conor Oberst (Bright Eyes, Conor Oberst and the Mystic Valley Band), and M. Ward. I'll throw Monsters of Folk in there (M. Ward, Jim James (or Yim Yames as he goes by in the band, but the lead singer from My Morning Jacket regardless) and Oberst and Mike Mogis of Bright Eyes). I saw them back in 2002 when they called the tour the Monsters of Folk and performed a night of acoustic songs where they'd all play together and solo, no breaks between sets- 3 straight hours of music. Then they recorded an album of new material - it's OK.

With that top faves list, it's heavy, though not all (Spoon), on indie folk kind of stuff, or alt-country if you will.

A lot of the bands you listed I am not too familiar with, so I will need to check them out.

Aw ok, big list! Sadly haven't heard much of any of those...though I've heard of wilco and 90's "alt country" type stuff.

Yeah I guess a lot of the stuff I been into the last couple years could be considered indie dance music with a lot of the obvious catchy hooks and stuff.

Favorite Band: RED (my favorite rock band), Skillet, Switchfoot, Florence + the Machine (as much as I don't like some of her subject matter in her music videos, she's an insanely talented singer), Thousand Foot Krutch (Canadians represent!), Mutemath, Coldplay, She, and the list goes on and on my friends!
Favorite Type of Music: I like all sorts of music (literally, about 20% of the music from my Ipod comes from various soundtracks, and 10% of it isn't even in English), but my favorite types have to be hard and soft rock and electronica/dance/techno.

There is an edit button, but it goes away after a set period of time. I don't think anyone knows why for sure. It SEEMS like the time limit is a few hours, but I dont pay that much attention to it. Of course, you can always PM The Count and he will usually edit your post for you.
