I saw this today and I thought it was alright. I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it the way I love films like UP and WALL*E.

I was hoping to see a Muppet trailer with it, but all we got was the Winnie the Pooh preview (I need to see that movie as well). It was the only trailer they played, so I can't complain.

Comparing Cars to Up is like com pairing Apples to battery rechargers.

I discovered something about Up that I found interesting... something theorhetical...

If the film were live action, and ENTIRELY a long drawn out version of the opening montage and ended after Elle died, it probably would have been an art/prestige film (or as I like to call it cry porn). But what Pixar did was use an adult story as a springboard for an amazing adventure fantasy with elements of a buddy pick. The manage to squash so many types of movies into one with Up. I find Up and Ratatouille their high end films, which is why one didn't have much merchandise and the other's merchandise didn't sell.

Cars and its sequel are fun movies. Nothing wrong with that. They don't really have the same level of pathos or many adult themes in the mix, but they don't really need them. I find those movies and Bug's Life the weakest of the bunch, YET, it doesn't mean I don't like them.

Brave looks like a step back into a more artistic feature, and I'm really excited for it. I didn't see a preview for that one until I came home because that was a 3-D exclusive. All and all, I'm looking forward to the next batch of Pixar films (though I hate waiting until 2013 for Monsters Inc -1), way more than the next batch of Dreamworks ones... I mean, a movie where a snail gets superpowers? And they DON'T want to sequel Monsters Vs. Aliens WHY?!?

I'm pretty sure there's going to be a Nickelodeon series for Monsters vs. Aliens though.

I hope there's merchandise... that's the ONLY reason I want a second one. The stuff was TRU exclusive, there's no TRU's I can easily get to, and a bunch of scalpers just totally bought all of them up and sold them for a fortune on eBay. I WAS able to get a couple Megamind guys, though... THAT should have a show. I know Kung Fu Panda is supposed to get one sometime.

yeah, MVA did pretty good in the US, but it was dodgy in some markets, so that's the reason they don't want a second one. Still, I kinda want a Megamind MVA crossover project... even if it's like a video game or comic book or something.

Just want to jump in here and say that my Boy and I absolutely LOVE Cars 2! We've seen it twice so far, and are going again either later today or tomorrow sometime. I'm NOT a fan of Larry the Cable Guy at all, but Mater feels like one of my best friends, love that truck to pieces, and my Son feels the same (he's 2 and a half btw). The Cars films and shorts are just so much fun, with the perfect mix of heart at the base, I don't see how anyone couldn't love them.

Oh, and it would be the coolest if Cars was made into a tv series!! Hey Disney, could you pass that on please?
