Except with WW1 and WW2, we came in late and tried to be the hero. Everyone was fighting everyone else at that point. Plus, the US got SUPPORT to fight those ones.
Yeah, I mean, Obama's not perfect, and I am VERY disappointed in most of his overseas policies, but McCain scared me half to death when he was making light jokes about bombing Iran ("Didn't the Beach Boys write a song about that?" HA HA HA! It's all fun and games until the nuclear holocaust) ... and the fact that people were actually AGREEING with him made me jump out of my skin. Heck, a year or so ago, Didn't Beauty pageant bimbo Sarah Palin say that Obama SHOULD attack Iran? Up until the polls saying no one wants to blow more money in the Middle East, that was going to be their special little baby when they won in 2012. The one big thing I can give Obama points for is not going in there... yet.

But on the other hand, he did something about healthcare (something wimply watered down) when everyone was saying "FIX IT" for decades... and once he did the lies started spewing out from hack Dr. Nick type Doctors and a certain news network that just so happens to be sponsored and paid by the big insurance companies everyone started "thinking" the system was fine by itself. Sigh... I wish they just rammed it through Congress like Bush did with Iraq. Some socialist dictator Obama was, right? I rather liked the part about it being funded by vain airheads being taxed for plastic surgery. And he did have a weak regulation plan for big business that's unfortunately never going to pass. And he didn't win the election scaring people with Gay Islamic Mexicans taking everyone's jobs while they're quietly sent to Vietnamese sweatshops.

Seriously, if you don't believe in lesser evil, at LEAST believe in greater evil.

It's irritating because Nader used to hold so much value as an advocate for causes people wanted to sweep under the carpet. It's the same with PETA. Everyone's for the ethical treatment of animals, but you start calling fish "kittens of the sea" and you lose all credibility. And with that goes the ability to actually move forward on crucial issues. I guess the problems arise when responsibility to the cause is abandoned for sake of ego.
That's an old conversation I used to bring up. How come it had to be Sesame Street and McD's, which didn't show ANY food, completely obscured Ronald McDonald, and didn't use the 30 seconds to advertise a producet? I've noticed Arthur, for the longest time, had Rhodes Cinnamon rolls commercials showing kids eating them, Lipton's sodium stuffed noodle soups for Clifford... and even years earlier when Franco American did Spaghetti-O's commercials that advertised their product "NOW with as much CALCIUM as a GLASS of MILK!!!" No, McD's is the ONLY company on Earth that's bad. What about Exxon Mobile Masterpiece Theater? No complaints there.

There's just no party that I would breath easy with, were they elected. So I guess I can't do the greater evil thing either, lol.

That's seriously messed up about not allowing Jewish or Israeli people on a plane. I'd be upset if it was blacks or Muslims/middle easterners getting the same treatment. Though I suspect Saudi Arabia is mostly doing this as some sort of salvou regarding the upcoming UN vote referendum regarding Palestine

@Dr Tooth: So...youre saying Obama isnt a closet Islamist pushing commie socialism who was born in Kenya and faked his birth certificate? You saying Obamacare wont kill grannies, climate change isnt a hoax, and Obama aint gonna come take all our guns away?

Lol, I'm secure that Obama was born here. I'm just not sure he really appreciates what makes America special.

LOL, love it. I stand corrected! :halo:

Oh yeah I was wondering if someone would mention that. Congrats to all concerned!
Hey I want to love Obama. I hate how the right wing criticizes him at every turn. I mean shoot, Obama means a lot just in that a black or hispanic child can see that the sky is the limit. Im just a bit offput by some of his decisions. Even Bush, whom I hated his policies, I liked as a human being. So I like Obama as a person, I just am not sure what he's about

I honestly feel that Obama could be a force for good outside of politics (look at Gore), just... some things are inevitable in politics, left or right. Like our whole up the Middle East's butt world view and keeping Godzilla business stomp us all flat. I think everyone just put too much stock in what he was going to fix they didn't realize that too much of it is an impossibility. But really, I want the right to just come clean and say, "Sure! We were in total agreement to Lord Limbaugh when he told us to make him fail." I'd at LEAST have some respect in that instead of the claims he's a mutant alien from an advanced society trying to enslave humanity by making their poor healthy and well fed at the expense of those wonderful people who ship jobs to Cambodia. Or whatever crazy idiotic nonsense they came up with this week. I mean, yeah... get him on the issues, though the issues have been "let's not let him do anything and blame all the stuff from the last guy on him so we can continue doing stuff the last guy did."

I swear... you know how they design 2 sets of t-shirts before a game, and then they furiously print shirts of the winning team as soon as they see signs of them winning? I swear that a whole bunch of loud mouths of the poison pen wrote a bunch of "Obammie is a commie" books ahead of time and they just published them as soon as he won the presidency. Horror stories about the economy collapsing from socialism... well... the economy IS collapsing from all this corporate socialism, and all the corporate welfare we put these companies on.

I'd love to see Obama try to start legislation on giving every Republican in Congress a raise to see their greed battle their stubborn contradiction phase.

Youre right about people after the presidency. Jimmy Carter for instance to me is probably one of the only ex presidents I consider to be a true Christian, as witnessed in his words and deeds since leaving office. Everyone hates Carter but unlike the Bush crook family, Nixon, etc I think he was/is a genuinely good person. So I think Dr Tooth is right about presidents maybe being able to be more philanthropist types after the presidency
