The "Shine On" Sunny D commercial... First of all, Sunny D has been proven as one of the least healthy kids drinks out there, so Martina McBride giving her kids that would not have any bearing on her status as a "responsible mom." And second, who got paid way too much to write that "song"?
I've said it a hundred times, but in NO WAY do junk food commercials deserve half the scrutiny it gets, especially when everybody lets commercials for get rich quick schemes, health products that range from harmless hoaxes to dangerous medicine, and above all anything that can be sold on in Infomercial run wild and free.
However, I will say that when they advertise junk food as healthy, that DOES cross a line indeed. I still don't get sugared Yogurts... you might as well give them ice cream. But above all, kids may be susceptible to commercials, but adults are even easier to sway because they know how to push an older person's buttons.
Well, let us not forget, Drtooth, we live here in a society today where if women are like over size 2, they're "fat"... remember when Jessica Simpson put on a few pounds last year? She actually looked great! Like a NORMAL woman! The best she ever looked, in my opinion, but everybody else in the media was like "OH MY GAWD! LOOK HOW INCREDIBLY FAT JESSICA SIMPSON GOT! WHAT HAS SHE BEEN EATING? ! SHE'S HUGE!" Again, THIS is why we have people who are starving to death and literally killing themselves because it's gotten so bad that even if you have a typical/average body shape/structure, you're "fat". It's really upsetting to someone like me who's struggled with weight throughout most of his life... it's actually a proven fact that there's more weight discrimination in America today than there is racial discrimination, and the media is out there proving it.
I could post a huge long thing about that. I have a conspiracy theory that this "Fatt peeplz iz icky" stuff was headed up by the thinspiration/ Thin Supremacy freaks that told teenage girls in the 90's to barf up every dressing free salad they ever eat to look thin and perfect with those oh so smexy ribs poking out and figure of a malnourished little boy. I swear they were plotting revenge ever since they were looked down on as killing everyone. I still say someone's cooking the books about the nation's health issue, and we don't know the real deep darker truths because shifting blame is just much easier. But really... Subway has NO RIGHT to air these offensive commercials. Especially since they have (and this was proven) the worst subs anywhere. No one really even likes to eat them. Especially when everywhere you go, you have at least 5 mom and pop sub/pizza shops.
Now

I HATE those Jimmy Dean ads with (everybody all together now) ugly people with uglier beards dressed in planet costumes. And one of them is an ugly foreign guy. Why does every commercial have to look like it's some low budget Office/Napoleon Dynamite ripoff? And must they saw Awesome? I hate that word. Living in Boston, you'll know what I mean.
I also think the Tech Talk commercials for Metro PCS with the Indian guys is boarderline racist. Heck, kick out the word boarderline... it IS racist. What, so we can make fun of Indians now?
