My dad broke a rib

Yesterday my dad was going for a walk in the woods and there was a piece of barbed wire he didn't see, and he tripped over it. As he was falling, he landed on a tree stump, and now one of his ribs is broken. It's no use going to the doctor; what can they do to treat a broken rib? So please, my friends, pray for him. Hopefully, it won't get worse, but all the same, I'd appreciate your prayers. :zany:

You can count on me, Brian, but I would think there'd be SOMETHING a doctor could do, I don't know...

He isn't in too much pain, is he?

Princeton, broken ribs can be fixed just like a broken arm can. About a year ago from now my dad was in a skiing accident and broke a few of his ribs and an arm and bruised a lung. He recovered nicely after a short while. Though it can be quite scary and a bit of a burden on daily life until full recovery. Actually, it's funny...after my dad fell, he still skiied the rest of the way down the mountain without a stretcher. Eh, he's like that.

Anyway, I can relate to your story and I sympathize with you. I will be thinking of your family but know that he will get better. Especially if it's just one rib. If my dad can recover within a few month with more than one broken rib, arm and lung and then get back on the slopes a year later, I KNOW your dad WILL be fine.

I don't wanna say anything that might make you feel worse over the situation but why would he not go to a doctor for something broken?

He's certainly not going to recover from this without some kind of medical treatment.

After two sleepless nights, he decided to go to the doctor. I'll let you all know the verdict when he gets back. For all I know, it may just be bruised, but we'll see.
