The cause was noble, but I felt it a perfectly good waste of a great cross over.

I know and it was even worst when you knew that there could be crossovers like that in the first place  . The adventures they could have had together:insatiable: !

Y'know, a lot of people from my generation have given Smurfs a bad rap, and I just don't get it. I really enjoyed the cartoon as a kid. That kind of fairy tale fantasy was wonderful for kids like me who grew up in mid west USA far from any such idyllic European surroundings, albeit fantasy ones. The voice acting talent on that show was the cream of the crop, the designs were fun and the stories were very engaging. And on top of all that, I recall an interview with Jim back in '84 when Muppet Babies had just come out, and he said that among the cartoons he enjoyed, Smurfs was right up there because of their great "little stories." You don't need any better endorsement than that!

I remember seeing the Smurfs for many years on syndication with some scenes cut out to make room for more commercials. I hope the DVDs will have all of the episodes restored, plus seeing the episodes that never appeared on syndication.

I don't think they will do that, at least I have never seen it done on most DVD sets, most of the time they use the cut verisons :frown: *sigh*

no no... I meant making them look like how they'd appear in the real world. Sort of like what they did with the movie versions of what I mentioned.

Glad to see they didn't deviate from the original designs here.
Oh yeah! I see what you eman now!

That movie was scary  !
Yeah, I know what you mean. That was creepy. It makes you wonder just exactly why he was seeing his toys and things come to life and all those cartoon characters come to life in the first place? But I liked it anyway.
