Realistic Smurfs would just look wrong IMHO, they've always looked comicy from the start..I wonder, would real Smurfs have fur? :insatiable:
I hear the movie is going forward, but may take another direction. I'm pretty sure they'll still use those character designs.

I just hope they don't Hollywood it up.

Smurf Balloon... Macy's Parade... all I'm saying here. Check out the "Muppets to Sing in Macy's Parade" thread for more details.

I'm sure we'll see either one of the Christmas specials someday. Perhaps as bonus features on the Season sets. Though, I could see both Christmas Specials released next year, closer to the movie's release date.

Yeah, I really hope they put the two Christmas specials on DVD. My old tapes of them may not last much longer

Here is some more news http://www.smurf.com/smurf.php/www/news/en
It talks about the move being live-action/animated, I have never seen that turn out good like the scooby-doo movies.
Then it say it's a 3d cgi flim and that really is not the smurfs, i think the smurfs sould always be 2d.
I see the Smurfs over all looks to turning into a new direction, and i find that to sad.

Bad news about the direction of the film.
Oh lord *facepalm* Why must they do stuff like this? What, so no Smurf Village now?

Also, does anyone know what the holdup is on Season 2? They released Season One but it's been a long time!

Apparently, Warner Botchers wanted to help everyone during these "tough times" (i.e. remember to say tough times a milliondy twelve more times so chicken hearted, lily livered, greedy moron investors can keep pulling money out of the market and make things even worse), by not releasing low cost season sets, but high cost 5 episodes on one disk out of order kiddy sets THAT AREN'T SELLING.

As for the movie, I was blind to think that it wouldn't get horribly screwed up by a bunch of blithering idiots that just want to make the SAME crappy movie over and over and over and over and over again, and then make monkey faces when people don't foot the money from it. I'm SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO glad people learned the lesson from underdog and every other low budget bomb by diving completely beyond the source material to old cliches and pointless garbage. This is yet another in a long long line of bad news that I just can't take anymore with a straight face.

Let them make their terrible piece of Underdog. Let them kill another franchise. it's not worth looking forward to anything anymore.

Oh... and Sony... you're one of the WORST run studios right now... and honestly, it's pretty heated competition.

ARGH... well, I'm not wasting my time with those. Guess season 2 and beyond will never get a proper release :frown:

Probably not... since no one likes to buy 10 dollar 5 episode disks. They're a ripoff and a total waste of money. Vs a 15 episode 20 dollar DVD? Seems the only ones cutting back is the company trying to cheap it's way out of a proper release.

But considering how ughy the movie has became, the Smurf's not so triumphant return will be short lived. Thanks Sony.
