You know what I love to fantasize about?

Me one day playing the title role in a production of the musical "Sweeney Todd".

I so adore that musical and I can just imagine me as Sweeney waving the cut-throat razor with my moustache grown to set off the character.:excited:

The thing I would love the most is that I would only have to say mild swear words for the part. Hoo boy. I would so enjoy the experience.:excited:

Just a little bump, in case any of my friends who've come in late haven't noticed this.

I say go for it, Marty!

There's the Sondheim version, but there are also a few non-musical adaptations of the story as well.

What a neat idea, Marty!

I always love thinking about the different roles out there that I would want to play, too! My mind's always racing with ideas about 'em, hehe.

And I bet you would be awesome in this role. I agree with Tony... I think you should go for it! I hope you get the chance to live your dream someday!

Thanks for your words of encouragement Tony and Caroline.

One day I would like to try to get into musical theater. Naturally I would have to start out small. One must crawl before one walks.

Another role I would love is Jekyll and Hyde. "This is the Moment" sung by Dr.Jekyll, is such a thrilling song.
And then there's Ebenezer Scrooge from "Scrooge" based upon Charles Dicken's "A Christmas Carol"
Those are perhaps the three main musicals I would most love to play the starring roles in.
How awesome.

"Sweeney Todd" is by and large my favorite musical. I would love to play any role from it, though I tend to lean towards Toby. I'm probably not what people envision when they think of Toby (contrary to what is shown in the movie, Toby is actually written to be a bit older, early 20s or so, though I LOVE Ed Sanders' performance; it was quite gutsy of Burton to cast an actual child in the part). Still, it's a part I adore and if it ever happened I know I'd put all I could into it.

Of course, I also desperately want to direct it! I have many, many ideas. My experience with theatre is heavy on audience participation, so it would be fun to find a way to get members from the audience to "play" victims of Sweeney Todd. And, of course, I would have ushers serve meat pies during "A Little Priest" and all throughout intermission.

Directing is just as big an ambition for me as acting, actually. My favorite contemporary play (or, at least, play from the past ten years or so) is "The Pillowman" by Martin McDonagh. I have a really weird idea to make that play work well onstage and be totally unique. Read about the play here, it's pretty great stuff.

Yes, I'm a sicko.

Well, you never know what can happen! Although admittedly Marty, Scrooge is a roll I could more easily see you in, bearing in mind that I've neither seen you nor heard your voice.

My own theatrical dream is a rather odd one. It has always been my fantacy to die on stage. Not really, of course,
 but to play a character that dies. Of course, most such parts are major ones. One possibility of a sort of mid-level roll that could work for me is Fanteen from Les Miserables. Hmmm, I think I could do it!

That is a rather dark play but I bet it would be thrilling to watch performed.

I bet you could do it too Kate. I have every confidence in you.

I've also been fantasizing myself hamming it up in the small role of King Herod in Jesus Christ Superstar. I'd have fun with King Herod's song.
:sing: So you are the Christ. You're the great Jesus Christ.

I know some Christians condemn that play as blasphemous, but it's really rather harmless entertainment compared to some other rubbishy things that misrepresent Jesus Christ's image and history.
