Why are all these "worst" threads coming BEFORE the "best" threads? Are we really that negative?

XD I am not sure myself but I don't get into it too much. Occasionally if I feel like nagging I do go into it--but um..no it just depends on how critical a person is.

Actually, it's funny you should mention it now, 'cause I was just talking about something similar yesterday. It is a proven fact that people will respond to something negative three times more than something posative. What do you think of that?

I believe it. A lot of people feel that talking about negative things is more interesting than talking about positive things. I guess it all depends on your personal feelings and outlook, though.

I find way too many negative posts. It upsets me that there would be any on this web-forum, too.

And, this post, equals one of them unfortunately.

I dunno--seems we all could have learned more from what Jim Henson taught us with his work, and I don't know why there aren't more positive posts. When you come here and leave, we should be inspired and ready to make a positive change in the world and help what Jim wanted to do when he left the world become a reality.

If I've said it before, I've said it a billion times on this dang blard and I'll continue to say it until people actually listen to me. LOVE EVERYBODY! Shake a hand instead of shaking a fist. It's as easy as turning on a light switch man, turn the hate off and turn the love on. I have one of those heart-fluoresent bulbs that last longer than regular love and it's cheaper too.

Yes, that is true, and I think we do a pretty good job of that most of the time. You must remember though that no one, not even Jim himself, is perfect. We all have things that we like and dislike, and that is perfectly natural. That, and most of us are very close friends and family on this forum. It is our own, indevidual views that make us closer. Of course if there is intense fighting or general bad behavior, it is the right thing to do for a mod to close or delete a thread, but a moderate amount of disagreement is healthy.

Um... To try and answer... Methinks that the topic of negativity and the "Worst"-titled threads need be separated.
Negative posts are one thing, and the mod squad here at MC headed up by Kevin (Fozzie Bear) does their best to make sure the atmosphere at this forum isn't permeated by the thoughts of some bad apples out to spoil our fun and happiness.

The threads like "Worst Movie Ever" and the such simply appear before "Best Movie Ever" threads because of the rate at which someone posts there. Actually, that happens with all threads. Whichever one is the one that gets a reply at the most recent time, that's the one that goes to the top of the heap. Check out the list after I place this post, this thread will stay at the top. But as soon as someone posts in the "Best Movie" thread, that one will top this one. And so on and so on.

Hope this helps explain things a bit better.

Thanks Ed for giving your input. I may be wrong, but I don't think that's what Jack originally meant. I think he was talking about when they started, in which case I probably shouldn't be saying anything, because I haven't been paying too much attention to those threads. I'm sure it must be true at least some of the time though, or he wouldn't be saying it.
