Aw, thanks a lot; some of the others in that block are really amazing. It looks like someone did a watercolor or oil painting on one of them.

Definitely a great work of art to be proud of, MN!

Lol, OK so I was heading to a meeting tonight. It starts at 8 and I am usually pretty late (like around 9). This time I managed to get there around 8:20. My friend was glad to see me but joked that I was late again. Slightly embarrassed, I look at the clock and on the spur of the moment said, "Hey, it's the earliest I've ever been late!" To my delight, everyone laughed. Yay! :flirt:

Ah, that's our girl!

You know Mariane, what you said about Richard not knowing that his words would have an affect on people who weren't born yet, is really something! It's a true testiment to what a great presence he was!

Ah, the Great Santa Claus Switch. Like I said, I wonder where someone dug that up.

Nice comeback, heralde, very nice! But I'll bet that in terms of lateness Richard could have topped you...

It's true, Kate...Richard was only on this earth for 40 years and five months, but he's been able to leave behind a lasting influence...excellent characters, witty one-liners, gorgeous vocal work, some really profound words of wisdom...and one really nutcase fan base to obsess over it all.

I'm about to go crazy here, this is probably the like....5th year in a row, where I've tried to find a Terry's Milk Chocolate Raspberry candy ball thing, and I CAN'T FIND IT!

I loved those things so much. They were so tasty to me, and I can't find them. Only that atroctious Chocolate Orange. Ew.

Either way, how are you guys? We've put up our Christmas Tree last week, and trimmed it...it looks so nice! And I believe we're going to wrap presents tomorrow, too. I'm hosting Christmas dinner at our house! (Which I'll make sure I take pictures of tomorrow for you guys! I'm so proud of that thing, I want to show it off!)

I also have contact lenses now! YAY! ...also them and my glasses are my "christmas gift" from Mom and Dad. Is it selfish to think this - "wow, glasses and contact lenses for Christmas. you've given me the gift of sight." - in a really sarcastic way? With eye rolls and everything?

Because I'm not getting anything else for Christmas from Mom or Dad. I mean, no presents whatsoever under the tree. I feel like on one hand "wow, you've given me the gift of sight, big whoop." but on the other hand, I'm grateful they bought me these things, as I needed them.

I guess I see them more as a "need" then a "want", which is really what Christmas gifts are. But it's still money spent either way, so I'm kinda on the fence. And no, I've not really been mean in any way to my parents over it either, I'm just.....I'm just at a loss for words over it. One hand I'm grateful, the other hand I'm going where's the presents?

What do you guys think about this? I'm really just messed up over it.

Sara! Hah... Did you finally decide on classic pineapple glaze or garlic herbs for the ham? And hey, at least the glasses and lenses are something you needed more than wanted, unless there was a bit of want there too. So long as they got it for you, it counts as a present. And yeah, you could have a sense of "where's the real gift?" from such. But hey, at least it solved one problem, that's one less thing to worry about. So look on the bright side of things. And before I forget...

*Huggles Sara, leaves some milk chocolate—real milk chocolate and not that faux vegetable oil they're passing off as milk chocolate nowadays— coated 16 cookies for one of my fave friends.

No it's not selfish, you're human after all. I definitely understand the frustration and I think most people would too. A long time ago for my birthday I pretty much got only a bicycle. Which I needed and was happy about. But I felt slightly let down, lol.

The thing is, as you get to be a young adult, for better or for worse, Christmas does start to become less about your parents giving you presents, and more about you finding your own way to celebrate. Either by buying your own presents (which can be tough obviously!), buying presents for others (which you probably already do lol) or by looking for new outlets like charity. For the first time ever, I volunteered to help give out presents at Church this year. Hopefully that will go well. But just the act of volunteering made me feel nice. It felt like the typical Christmas spirit, but different somehow.

Anyway, it's like growing pains during the holidays. I'm sure you'll work your way through. And good luck with hosting and wrapping presents, that's half the fun at Christmas.

It's the same here; we've all (or at least, Mom and I have) asked each other not to go overboard on present-buying this year. So we're each getting each other a few meaningful items.

And it's true, heralde - it's about establishing new routines for the holidays. And people do things like setting up an angel tree at the office or church, or get together for cider and cocoa (or something a tad stronger)...or in the case of someone we know, drop in at the Metropolitan Museum of Art's shop near closing time and give whoever's still on duty a present...

But I guess the secret to surviving the holidays is to realize that all those holiday ads and commercials are out of touch with reality. (I mean, some of them are so sugary they'd rot your teeth.)
