Yup state fairs are a great part of Fall. And pumpkin picking is fun...or perhaps more accurately called pumpkin picking upping. In that most of the pumpkins were already picked before hand, and just put back on the ground for kids to find, lol.

I used to love blueberry and, strawberry and corn picking. My aunt would take me and my brothers and my cousins all the time. Somtimes my mom would take but. My other aunt and uncle who used to live near my granparents used to have cherry trees all along her back yard and they would always let us take some home when evry we'd visit. I'm not from the country but my dad grew up there and his dad was a farmer and I sure miss it! But there is nothing like produce right off the source it grew from. And while you are grateful, you never look of food from a can quite the same way again.

Well, we went today. It was nothing too great. Oh my gosh, though. We thought it would be a fun thing....we went on the ski lift they had there. To quickly get from one place to the other. Not...a good idea. We were both sufficently terrified by the time we got off of it.

But we got to have some deep fried pepsi balls (not that wonderful, but they were okay), and some zeppolis (otherwise known as fried dough).

More later, I hear him calling me for dinner. Rob's over for the night tonight! *laughing*

Well, we went today. It was nothing too great. Oh my gosh, though. We thought it would be a fun thing....we went on the ski lift they had there. To quickly get from one place to the other. Not...a good idea. We were both sufficently terrified by the time we got off of it.

Ugh, yeah no fun. Reminds me of horrible fireworks we had one year. So loud and bright to the point they were painful!

Hi, everyone; I was out of town on another round of job interviews.

Well, the Pepsi balls might not be my cup of tea but the zeppoles sound awesome. And it is cool to walk around and see what everyone's showing off at the fair.
But I can't go on carnival rides or theme park rides anymore, because they all make me queasy. I used to love riding the Tilt-a-Whirl and things like that; now I can't ride anything more extreme than a Ferris wheel (and even that tests my limits from time to time). It's the family curse; it kicked in when I was 18.

Hehe, reminds me of how Richard was always Richard, and NO nicknames, hehe.

And thanks MN, that's cool that you got to see pics of Amanda and Adam!

That's right - but the Muppet crew could get away with calling him Richie, of course.

And it was cool to see the photo of Adam with Jane - Amanda was right when she said that Adam and Richard didn't resemble each other very much. But I did see some resemblance between Jane and Adam - same nose and mouth.

Oh, one thing: I goofed when I said that Edward Hopper built that group of houses on Corn Hill. Someone else built them; Hopper simply did lots of paintings of them and other Cape Cod scenes.

I don't have much experience with rides, but the Tilt a Whirl always terrified me, lol. I'd like to try a rollercoaster or Ferris wheel at some point (and pray very hard since things do happen!). But I love all times of water rides.

Hehe, it sounds like they were into that, calling Steve "Stevie" as well.

I can still ride on water rides (just not the ones with steep drops), since they're a godsend on hot days. But roller coasters make me break out in a cold sweat - I've never been on one with loops, and I'm certainly not planning on riding one.

I don't do well on rides anymore, but my mom fares worse. She's given me permission to tell you guys about one ride that really did her in years ago. It was a Tilt-a-Whirl-type ride in Kearny (NJ), combined with a recently devoured funnel cake, the smell of diesel fuel from the ride itself and the awful odors coming out of the Passaic River...'nuff said.

Yeah, the names must have been a tradition in the Henson company. Steve was Stevie, and Dave's been called Davey, and Richard himself once referred to Jane Henson as Janie. But I still have no clue where he came up with Christine's nickname (Gumbelina). (That is a rather cute story that Jacquie Gordon told in her book about Christine.)

Oh, yeah - Christine hadn't visited the Muppet sets in a while, and when she gets there, Richard swoops down, scoops her up in a big hug and says things to make her blush. She was part of that big, crazy, zany extended family - and I think that Richard was sort of her adopted big brother.

And it's true - we've only communicated via forum and e-mail, but we're a really tight-knit group. I guess we're sort of a bunch of electronic pen pals.
