Lol yeah I love how he's able to go from this calm reasonable person to an outright loud lunatic (though he IS talking with Cookie Monster...wouldn't you? Hehe)
Well, considering I am an IRS (Information Resource Studies) major as part of my SLIM (School of Library Information Management) program, I'll be going into a similar situation. Thankfully, if Cookie or anyone like him were to show up, I would calmly redirect him to some place nearby that does have cookies.

Oh, man, I'm getting a tension headache just reading that.

We have TMS-3, and we took in three episodes last night. Liked the Gilda Radner episode, with the glue, and the Emily Litella spiel in the dressing room (with Scooter taking the place of Chevy Chase and Jane Curtin).

Scooter: But this isn't the Muffin Show, it's the Muppet Show!
Gilda: Oh! Well, that's different...never mind!

Glad you enjoyed, I love that episode! Especially when Bunsen says Gilda is going to be his guinea pig and Beaker giggles in the background. Finally someone else has to face the sadistic insanity that is Bunsen!

Any other reports on Season 3?

I've been messing around with the first disc for the last couple hours, and I found Richard's Gladys quite amusing. Not a lot of people I know are very fond of her, but she's pretty cool.

And the ten minute Muppeteer thing didn't have any mention of Richard, but it did have some fantastic pictures of him and a audio-less clip of him with Beaker from Of Muppets and Men. The whole thing basically consisted of Of Muppets and Men.

After we finished up disc 1, I skipped ahead to disc 4 so we could watch the Lynn Redgrave episode (aka the Robin Hood show, aka the Scooter-tries-his-hand-at-stage-managing show).

So far that one's my fave; loved Scooter's musical interludes (and the lines about the Merry Men "living fast and looth." And backstage...Scooter's definitely channeling the frog, from shouting at people to get stuff out on stage to having scenery fall on him.

I'll bet Richard had fun doing that one. And it's a hint of what's to come, both on-camera and off.

Just photos, but no mention of Richard? Way no fair, man.

Yes I completely agree, that's one of their best episodes! Did you notice Scooter at the end thanking his Uncle JP and also claiming to pay all the instruments? Also a quick exchange with Beau, lol.

I think it does show that all his earlier Uncle talk was just a way to infiltrate himself into the show so to speak, lol. IMO, I can see Scooter in the beginning of the series just very eager to be in show business at all costs, no matter what (that's definitely how he comes off in the first season). But that later on as he becomes more respented by the other characters, he's more inspired to work with the team and channel the Frog. Which he probably secretly wanted to do in the first place, but didn't have the encouragment.

To me, the third season is really where they started to find their footing and become "The Muppet Show" we know today. Is the Pearl Baily episode in that one? Janice really starts to become a character here. :flirt:

Yeah overall I think Disney has not done enough and it's frustrating. I mean it's great that the episodes are on DVD at all, and I don't want to sound spoiled. But it is a travesty that so many of the old specials are not seeing the light of day, when they could be on these disks. Also a travesty of Richard not being mentioned obviously.

I don't know if it would even matter, but I'm seriously thinking of not buying it, at least not right away. Henson has been doing a much better job with Fraggle Rock.

But definitely thanks for the updates, MN! And definitely watch Muppets on Puppets, it's essential for Muppet fans!

Of course. Henson knows what to do with Jim's creations, whereas Disney often only uses the products its buys if it thinks it can milk it. Unfortunately, Disney may feel that The Muppets may outshine the Disney image, which is why I think the Mouse House refuses to acknowledge the potential of The Muppets beyond B-list movies and small-budget commercials.

Though still, it's a mass of contradictions. I didn't enjoy the more modern Muppet productions that were made before Disney came into the picture. So I'm very grateful that Fraggle Rock is being handled so well.

But anyway, I was thinking more about that Pearl Bailey episode. We get to see Janice, I think for the first time, really having a conversation with Kermit as a character. She gives him a hard time about the lame musical number and how out of touch he is. Richard was clearly in touch with that kind of character. To my ear, his first attempts at Janice's voice sounded too old, like Gladys. With Janice, he seemed to find a way to use his own hip youthful voice, only a bit sweeter and sing-song, like a girl's might be.

And again, I think we see this interesting difference between the Muppet Show and the Muppet movies. The characters on the Muppet Show are sort of a disfunctional family. They care about each other, but spend most of the time getting in each other's way, upstaging and annoying each other. They don't seem entirely united because they're all trying so hard to get to the top. Whereas, in the Muppet movies, suddenly everyone is on their best behavior, lol. They're sweet and loving and utterly devoted to each other, particularly in MTM. I don't think one is better than the other, I just think it's an interesting phenomeon.

Also in this episode we find out Floyd and Janice are a couple. I wonder if this came about through Richard and Jerry fooling around in between takes, since they did work so closely together.
