Aw Erin... You went to the three saints, Thomas, Croix, and John, no not the Divine... So close to home and yet I didn't even know you went AWOL on us missy. Sure hope you had a great time just a scant flight across from us bats here in the somewhat almost 51&½ state.

BTW: I'm thinking of changing my siggy to a Janice quote. Should I do it?

Gee, sorry, Ed. The thing is, Mom brought her computer along so we could check on e-mail and stuff, so I was planning to check in with you guys on the trip - but the computer wouldn't boot up when we got there, so we were stuck using the one in the lobby. And it's preferred that we spend only a few moments on that one at a time - lots of people waiting their turn, ya know.

We went to Thomas and John, but not Croix. And we flew through San Juan on the way home, so I waved.

Go for it Ed, fer sher!
And if it's any consolation, this one *points at Erin* was in my neck o' the woods around Thanksgiving and I didn't know it until it was too late!
Anyway, yeah, I'd like to see that Tonight Show appearance myself someday! I was thinking that too about Miss Piggy bribing..or threatening..Scooter into making that announcement. Also I'm thinking Kermit and Scooter had a lovely little chat when they went off the air!
Finally Haralde, I personally think you should adopt your next pet, whether it be a cat or a dog. There are many wonderful animals in need of homes, and in my opinion animal breeders are just like any other commercial enterprize. They will continue as long as they are supported. Besides, I think, for dogs anyway, mixed breeds are better. They are healthier, and in my experience, have better temperaments. Just my two cents.

Glad you had a good time, MN, that's so cool! And hope your cherry hog enjoyed the bowl of chalk down the frog and toad.

FraggleMuppet, yeah the more I read about it, I do think breeders are making it that much harder for shelter animals. I'm really going to try and get both. I've also contributed to some of the related charities because the more funds they have, the more animals they can support and save. (Not to advertise for them on the board or anything, hehe). And when I eventually have some free time :crosses fingers:: lol) I'd be very interested in volunteering.

Count, I think the new signature is groovy!

It's true and Everybody on the sets agrees that Richard was the life of the party and it's just hasen't been the same same set without him.

It's great to have scooter sharing a segment with Kermit like that. I wish they would do that more ofter now day. I like the chemistry the characters have with each other and the guest when there going the rounds on the talk show circuit!

Can't help but to comment about what Kevin said in his interview about how Jim like to keep puppeteers free and had then all working on different projects and how they work in teams and everything. Because Steve said in his interview here about how when he first auditioned for Jim for Sesame Street, it was mostly to see how he would fin in whit the rest of the group and what his chemistry was like with Him and Frank and everything. He was a little inexperience to handle the pace of Sesame Street at first, and The Muppet show worked a a slower pace for him for him to learn the ropes, so he was cast on the show a number of years later. But he was denied the show he originally auditioned for years down the line because Jim had learned the lesson form him and frank and other muppeteers over the years that once you get on that show schedule wise, you really don't get out, and Jim also needed him free for other projects such as Fraggle Rock. You know? While Richard was doing that show and and training newbies, he was going back and forth between Toronto and and New York on weekends and filming Sesame Street and mentoring the new group on the set (Bryant Young, David Rudman, Marty Robinson, Pam Arciero, Carmen Osbahr, Kevin Clash and a few others, many of whom had worked with each other, oddly enough before they hit the big time) at the time and Coming right back. And With the new people doing Sesame who are some of the main people on it now, it was clear they needed other puppeteer on the set because the other puppeteers working for Henson were busy with so many other things.

Congratulations, Erin! Very happy for you!

Yeah I mean, I wouldn't be surprised if Jim had a slightly love/hate relationship with Sesame Street. On the one hand, it provided him with exposure and opportunities for creativity. On the other hand, it gave the Muppets the "kiddie" label he didn't entirely want, and always took half his performers away during projects.

Yes, we've brought little Sonja home, and she's adjusting - and driving Toby up the wall in the process. But what'd ya expect, she's a puppy - and a very frisky one at that.

(whistles) That article from the Bergen Record (Nov. 1985) wasn't kidding when it said Richard maintained a frantic schedule. Back and forth between the U.S. and Canada every week, training new puppeteers and working on two major shows - it's amazing he and the others even found time to breathe.

That said, I'll bet he and the others had very well-stamped passports. (Even though those were the days when you didn't need a passport to cross the U.S.-Canadian border, as you will fairly shortly.)

Something else: I was just watching the clips from Jim's memorial again. It seems to me that Richard was wearing a tie that day - it's a little hard to tell, with the pattern on his shirt, but I think it's the leaf-pattern tie he was wearing for the London memorial.

Just thought I'd mention it.

Yeah, it's true that Jim mention and felt that Sesame was kind of in a way over shadowing the rest of his career. While he liked doing Sesame Street and towards the end of his life he said in one of his last interviews that it was the work that he was most proud of and that he had a focus of quality children's programming at the time and liked the commercial free cable channels at the time. I mean he wanted to be remembered for the legacy that he had and left on the show, but it was not all he wanted to be remembered for in his career, you know? There also was the issue with Frank and him not doing this as often as he used to in the later day's of course.

Yeah! My dad ofter travels to Canada for his job for training, and he has a passport.

Glad you're puppy is adjusting to her new home, Eirn! That's interesting about Richard and how he was wearing a tie at Jim's London memorial! I wonder if he was trying to match pattern of his shirt?

Yeah...other names we were considering were Greta, Anya and Stacey (short for Anastasia and all that). But Sonja was the only one we could sort of get a consensus on.

Toby's been sulking ever since Sonja came in...but Mom says he'll get out of it.

About passports: they're pretty much the best ID for plane travel - when we came in from the Virgin Islands, even though we were on U.S. territory we had to go through customs and have our passports scanned. It's kind of different in Europe - when we went from London to Paris, we had to show our passports but didn't need stamps, 'cause we were traveling inside Europe and the EU. We only needed stamps when we went back home to the U.S. (Oh, these days of heightened security...)

Yes, looks as if the guys all broke out their ties for Jim's big send-off - probably one of the rare moments that they all did so. Like I said, it took me a while to realize that Richard had a tie on. It blends in with the color/pattern, but you can see there's a tie knot at Richard's shirt collar. It's much more obvious in the photos from London, of course.
