Yes, the Pied Piper nickname really fits Richard well. As Martin said, "he was a builder of relationships," and that his own two sons adored Richard. And of course, just as the Pied Piper had a group of children following him, Richard almost always had a group of kids in tow when he was doing a tour of the workshop.

I mean, the Muppets make millions of people (including children, of course) happy, and Richard really loved working with kids, so he was in the right line of work.

Did anyone read the thread on the Henson People page, about an upcoming movie about Jim Henson's life? Lol, I have to admit, I always kinda hoped someone might do this. Of course, it probably won't be entirely accurate, and it will probably overplay certain faults. But if it's a well written story, it could definitely have potential. It reminds me of BackBeat, the movie made about the Beatles' early career.

Now they may just gloss over the other puppeteers in the story. However, they could chose to feature them, even briefly. Now that would be interesting. I almost wish the same kind of story could be done about Richard, but of course, he's not as well known. Then again, maybe someday...

Well yes, I saw it, but I made up my mind not to say anything until we knew more about it.
About Richard, it's not so much about him not being wellknown, (of course to fans he is, but on the flipside there are people who don't even know who Jim Henson was), but quite honestly, he was, as far as most people are concerned, just one of several muppeteers. Of course they're all special and important and loveable, but they can't all have movies made about them. Know what I mean?

Yes, I was actually very surprised to learn about this upcoming movie! I always worry with things like this that... something will just not be right, you know? That maybe they won't be able to capture the true magic of the person (which would be extra hard in Jim's case, I think), and things like that. But it'll be interesting to see how things develop.

I was thinking the same thing! It would be interesting if a movie on Richard were to come out. But hey, who could truly capture his fun and unique personality, and his spirited nature, hehe? You never know what the future may hold, though!

Heh, yet we can have a bunch of silly embarrassing movies released to the movie theaters at the drop of a hat, over and over again. Heh, go figure.

I definitely think it could work, again mainly thinking of the Beatles inspired movies that have been made. They're not perfect, but they are entertaining and fun for fans. It would really depend on the writing.

Yeah I know, who could possibly fit the bill? Lol, well I personally would go with an unknown, you get more variety and possibilties that way.

Yeah, I think the movie would be better off casting a group of unknowns to play Jim and the gang, rather than a bunch of overexposed Tinseltown darlings.

And I know, the prospect of a biopic can be both exciting and scary. On one hand, it's the story of Jim and his crew, played out in front of us, but on the other hand, if it's badly written or if the makers have some kind of agenda, it would be rough on the fans.

But it'd be really nice if it were a movie centered on all of the Muppet performers - just follow them around behind the scenes, outside the studio and all that. That'd be cool.
