Hmm, could be...(looks up) Richard, you wouldn't happen to be playing with the Twister board again, would you?

Richard: (hides board - the pointer is aimed at "All Things Peony" - behind his back) No, no, I'm just here listening.

Yes, the peony is native to Asia, and to parts of Europe and North America as well, so it's only natural that the peony should appear in Asian artwork. In fact, my mother and I keep a large stash of fabric around for quilting, and in a lot of the Asian-style prints we have, the peony is a common motif.

Oh I see, you were "just listening", riiiiiight. Well, I'll let it go this time since I'm enjoying the calender so much. :flirt:

I love anything to do with Asian prints, so lovely and different. I wore a dress with an Asian pattern to a school function years ago. It really stood out (especially since all the other girls were wearing white tops and black skirts hehe).

Sorry for being so random!
But I had a strange thought the other day!
Mr. Hunt played Wayne..

We all know that...
Though, they look so similar!
Just think about it!

Wayne is a muppet version of Mr. Hunt once you think about it.

Ok...this is just weird...the other day, I swear, I was thinking about the same thing! LOL I guess we're in sync!

Yes you're right they do bare a more than passing resemblance. Actually maybe it's not so odd, the workshop did sometimes make puppets that resembled their performers.

On a side note, I always kinda thought Statler looked the way Richard looked post-Muppet Show years (and I mean that as a compliment. Hehe :boo: ).

And btw, don't worry about introducing random topics. Like we said, it's all part of the RHLC Discussion Twister-board type thingie! lol

I guess we had a mind connection there!
Richard does resemble Statler to some degree...

Especially if he were to ever shoot a glare.
Wayne has the big brown eyes and a slightly narrow nose...
white skin...even the clothes!

Now, if we only had the cute little tooth gap...
*Giggle*

I just had to comment on that!

Actually, most of the muppets he played had something that resembled him other than the voice.

Like one of my personal faves...
Placido Flamingo!
Possibly had his charisma...

Oh yeah that's what Wayne needed, the tooth gap, lol. I always wish they showed a little more of him backstage. I liked it when he and Wanda were wondering where Kermit was...

"Hiding from my wrath no doubt!" lol

You're right, the Statler glare would do it! lol

Well Placido has a cheeky little grin, hehe. I said this awhile ago, but I've noticed a very interesting phenomenon. Sometimes if you watch the Muppet performers, there are moments where you can almost, I don't know, see the characters. And I don't just mean the voice. And even if the performers don't really look like the puppets. It's like you're seeing the soul of the character.

A lot of people think all the Muppets must move and act in the exact same way. But that obviously isn't true, because they're all played by different people. And their individuality comes true, body language etc. It's all unique, just like the performers are.

Oh my....we're getting closer to 5000 posts!

Hmmm, okay, I see where you guys are coming from on Richard's resemblance to Wayne...but personally, I don't think he really resembled Statler. Statler is very jowly, with a protruding jaw - very much like a bulldog. The way I see it, Richard was more like a greyhound in his later years (and perhaps like a spaniel during the TMS years).

But as for the Muppet's soul being visible when you see the performer - I definitely agree. I mean, you can really see traces of Kermit and Ernie when Jim speaks...and there's a touch of Fozzie around Frank...and a certain bit of Gonzo and Boober in Dave...and some of Floyd in Jerry...

And then there's the much-mentioned photo of Richard (with newsboy cap) and Scooter.

A greyhound, hehe, yes I can see that. Aw, Spaniels are the most adorable doggies in the world.

(chuckle) For me, almost any dog breed is capable of being adorable.

I'd say, of the spaniel breeds, Richard would be an English Springer Spaniel. It's got a curly/wavy coat, it's big, lovable and overly energetic...and it's a hunting dog.
As for the others - well, let's see, Jerry would be something big and shaggy, like a sheepdog, Dave would probably be a terrier, I imagine Frank as being sort of bulldog-like, and as for Jim...probably a retriever or a wolfhound.

Oh definitely, it's just that I used to have two Brittany Spaniels, and they were the best pets ever.

Oh God, lolol, good one! Well you've got a good point about the cury/wavy coat and the lovable energy. I've never had a Springer, but Brittanys are very similar in temperment. Though Springers sometimes have that so-called "rage" syndrome (though they decided "rage" was the wrong word).

Um, Richard, is there some reason why the Twister-board thingie has been moved to "All Things Adorable Dogs?" Did you need to hear what kind of dog we thought Jerry and the others would be? Lol
