Awww, I sure hope love has many more good points than bad to you, babe!

This is such an interesting conversation about love, though. And it's so true... though love can be hard sometimes, in the end, I think it's one of the best, most wonderful, and important emotions and feelings a person can have. And with romantic love, when you find that right person for you, there's nothing else like it. *sigh* I'm such a romantic, hehe.

Well, I think things like long distance relationships. the relationship part can be difficult at times not being able to be with each other and things like that. But loving someone who you truly love is not a hard thing at all. And loving and being loved is one of the most rewarding things anyone could ever experience in their life, you know? But when I really think about it, I can't really think of a down side to love. Because even if things were to go wrong it's just a good feeling to know that you loved and cared for someone then not to not have. I would much rather have loved then to have gone through life with out experiencing one one the greatest emotions anyone could ever have known or experience in your whole life.

Well, I was quite miserable today, till I finally received an unexpected piece of comfort.

I was able to visit The Metropolitan Museum of Art gift shop. Of course the RHLC members will understand the signficance of the visit, hehe. Though, I can't be sure if it was the same one (I understand there are actually a number of them) but it was really nice to check it out. Of course it's all lovely and decked out for Christmas, and it was cheering me up...a little.

I passed a shelf as I was getting ready to leave, then I decided to quickly turn around. And right there, was a small painting calender. And to my amazement, the calender read (I swear).....

"Peonies 2008"

As you may gather, the calender is composed entirely of paintings of the lovely flower (sometimes mixed in with other lovely flowers and butterflies). I have to say I was so surprised and delighted by this discovery, which managed to improve my mood and my night so completely.

According to the calender, part of the flower's uniqueness is how fleeting and precious its beauty is. American poet Mary Oliver referred to them as "wild and perfect for a moment, before they are nothing, forever."

Definitely very touching! Though, I don't agree that they ever really go away.

I do see what you mean, Will. I think it's really sweet that you wouldn't give up knowing the feeling of love for anything. And honestly, I feel that even with how it can be difficult with long distance relationships and anything else like that, the joy that love brings makes it all worth it when you're lucky enough to find someone who you truly love and want more than anything to make a loving relationship work with.

Along the lines of love and relationships, I just realized that I never congratulated Sara on her new job or wished her good luck with Robert! D'oh! I'm so sorry about that. So... big congratulations and good luck, Sara! lol. It sounds like you're much happier now, which is wonderful. I'm glad that your parents like Robert as well, that's always really nice. I hope things work out well with him.

Oh, I'm sorry you were feeling bad earlier yesterday, heralde. But what a great treat that you were able to visit The Metropolitan Museum of Art gift shop, that is so cool. And how perfect that you found that calendar... everything sure does happen for a reason, hehe. It sounds like such a gorgeous calendar, too! Very sweet. What an incredible quote from Mary Oliver, also... it makes them sound so mysterious, hehe. I'm glad you got such a nice surprise finding that calendar! Enjoy it extra for us, will ya?

Well, there are several shops outside of the main one at the museum. I know of at least two others; one down near Rockefeller Center and another in Newark Liberty.

But about the calendar - very interesting, heralde, and perhaps a little mysterious, too, in that peonies are "wild and perfect for a moment, before they are nothing, forever." Sounds rather like a certain Muppet performer we know and love...but I agree; peonies will eventually return to full bloom during the next growing season.
And it's the same with Richard - he's not really gone. He's just taken on different forms - his soul's up in heaven, his ashes are with his family and his memory is on the minds of Muppet fans.

Aw, well said guys, that's exactly what I meant. And yes Skye, I'll enjoy it for everyone! I put it on my end table last night and it really cheered me up when I got up this morning.

No worries, heralde - it's kind of the same with me; I've got assorted school projects that need attention - and I just remembered that I have a French test tomorrow.

Now, back to the peonies: some species, I believe, have a rather citrusy scent to them. And they do come in all sorts of colors: reds, oranges, purples, pinks and creams.

And it is true; Richard loved them enough to mention them in one of his speeches at Jim's memorial, and to later have his ashes (well, some of them) spread over them.

I don't know why but I never heard of Peonies before Richard mentioned them, lol. They are very nice though. And coming in all colors is very appropriate as well, considering his dedicated to shows like Sesame Street.

My favorite flower has always been the Rose. I would love to have a moment to plant things. I wouldn't be very good at it first try, but it'll be fun to learn! Lol

As for me, I'm rather partial to blue hyacinths. The color's gorgeous and the scent equally so.

I'd heard of peonies before, but didn't know much about them. Only after I heard about the connection with Richard did I start looking up info on them. For example, I recall reading that peonies are often used in herbal medicine in China and Japan, and there was a push to make the peony the national flower of China - in many parts of Asia, it seems, it has been termed "The Prime Minister of flowers."

Ohhhh, that's why there's so many Peonies painting in the calender done by Asian artists! See, you learn something new everyday!

But anyway great! They're both pretty and useful! (like someone else we know!) lol
