The Beatles definitely stood out in many ways, not just with their music, but with how they lived their lives. Like I said before, they didn't have 15 marriages like a lot of pop stars do, lol. Or the serious drug problems so many of their peers suffered from (Well they did have them at some points, but managed to come back from it and not let it ruin their lives). I don't want to get too off topic, just thought it was worth mentioning, hehe.

That is a good things to know and a rarity with musicians and things like that.

But I guess it's just better to do things out of love and caring and not feeling like your just doing it out of obligation. it's kinda like what's know as randon acts of kindness.

Hmm, I look at the direction this discussion has taken, and I've got the song "That's the Way Love Is" playing in my head. Let's face it, everyone, love isn't all about all that "happily ever after" stuff they always throw at us in fairy tales.

You guys have been discussing love's pitfalls, and I've had something just as messy on my mind - campus politics. The student government association's getting ready to vote on yet another new constitution, and yours truly has to report on it. I'm expecting quite a few raised voices (and perhaps fists) when it comes time to vote.

I think I said this once before, but just impressed that your student body is so involved in campus politics! If it's not too confidential, what exactly are the issues that get people so riled up?

Well, at least some people are involved, anyway. Outside of the SGA, there's a few student organizations, plus the media (that's us) - they're the ones who really take an interest.

Let's see - well, one part of the revised constitution would give (limited) senatorial voting rights to the president and the vice president - and that's got people concerned that the pres would have too much power, and another has senators being voted in for one position but immediately given completely different duties - that's got some people angry. It's issues of power, that sort of thing.

Ah I see, heh it lets students dive right into the insane world of "grown up" politics, doesn't it? Hehe

I just voted in a general election in my area the other day. Not for any people, just a few propositions. I almost didn't make it, my friend had to call and remind me, lol. I think I was the second to last person to vote! Lucky thing to as it turned out though. One of the propositions was extremely close, but thankfully went my way. So see, you can make a difference.

Just so things aren't too serious, here's a clip I absolutely adore, lol. It's one of those clips where I would love to see the puppeteers underneath:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=iN2109FAcdo

Among the highlights are Kermit angrily referring to Richard's character and the other monsters as "You and your people!" Also Kermit being slightly insensitive to the monsters' apparent illiteracy, lol. And finally Richard's monster reaction to the In door at the very end, lol.

Yeah, I think we all have a slight difference of opinion of what love is here, it's varies for everybody and you kind of have to find the person that matches your ideas a Little bit. Loves not all pitfalls. It has just s many good points in the end then it does dad in my opinion.

yeah, power is always a big issue when it come to things like politics. It's tricky you know? There's just such a balancing act that needs doing and it's not always easy ti figure out

OH! I love that clip and I remember seeing it when I was little. I used to love seeing that monster run through the out door and run into Kermit, LOL!

Awww, I sure hope love has many more good points than bad to you, babe!

This is such an interesting conversation about love, though. And it's so true... though love can be hard sometimes, in the end, I think it's one of the best, most wonderful, and important emotions and feelings a person can have. And with romantic love, when you find that right person for you, there's nothing else like it. *sigh* I'm such a romantic, hehe.

Wow, I'm really sorry to hear about all the difficulties around you, Erin. That must be so hard (and annoying, as well). I really hope everything turns out ok!

That is a great clip, heralde, lol. It was really fun to watch. Kermit was hilarious! And I couldn't help feeling so sorry for Richard's character at first! Lol, and of course, I loved his reaction to the In door at the very end, too! And then his enthusiastic reaction when he finally came out the Out door was hilarious, lol. Awwww, talk about adorable! Thanks for posting it!

Actually , I don't think we all have different opinions of love, just that we're concentrating on different aspects. But all are accurate.

Glad you liked the clip, Skye! "IN...ahhh!" Lol

Btw, early Christmas special this year (yeah yeah what else is new, right?) Anyway, someone posted The Christmas Toy on youtube! This is one of my most favorite Christmas specials of all time. I didn't realize until recently just how much the Muppets had to do with making Christmas special during my childhood. When I see garland or tinsel, part of me does think of The Christmas Toy. Somehow they were always there, with the TV specials and the albums etc.

Richard's main character is Belmont, the rocking horse (though he's more of a "Scooter" horse...heh...see because he's on wheels and...heh). One could say he's not a typical Richard character, since he's not particularly loud or daring or crazy. He's stiff, paranoid and worrisome. On the other hand, I think he has a lot in common with Richard's other creations in that he inspires the audience to be more daring and brave and compassionate.

He's not your first choice of favorite character perhaps because he is such a wimp and also so mean to Mew the Mouse at first. But on the other hand, that's the kind of detail that makes a rich fully developed character. In the scene when Mew's about to be frozen forever, Belmont tells Rugby "You can't risk your life for a cat toy!", but at the same time you can see how guilty he feels.

You see the performance of a real actor there (especially when you consider he's working a character with one facial expression hehe).

....Oh yeah, I forgot the link lol
