They say that we're all gonna die EVERY year. Haven't you seen those magazines? We're all gonna die by 2006 on Sept. 11th, Nostradomous predicted. He always predicts that stuff, and it never happens, which makes ME believe that he has no idea what the heck he's talking about. It's like he picks a day out of the hat, or picks a bingo ball or something and says "This is the day next year" that day happens and life goes on, and he's sitting there saying "Did I say that day? I meant, This day" and on and on. So, I don't put much stake in stuff like that.

That's the problem. We're in a Boy crying Wolf situation. the more they say it, the more we ignore it. And when you have so many threats, what are we going to do when we get a credible one?
Anyway, I hate when the environment becomes a political issue. It speaks volumes what's wrong with the political system in general. We have something that we all should consider. Is it happening? Is it all due to our meddling, or is it a natural phenomenon? The issue is that, wheter its happening or not, we HAVE to be aware of it. Why it bothers me is that a certain part of the political spectrum say it isn't happening, not due to scientific research, but due to the fact they don't want the other political party to get the smug satisfaction of being right.
This scares me. With any movement of good intentions, there's always more posers than serious followers. I believe most 1960's hippies didn't give a crap about Vietnam, and just said, "Free love? Cool! Sign me up!" So for every thoughtful, sane voice that said "War is wrong" we had hundreds of others pretending to care, and making the movement look like a bunch of weirdos. To which, the button down types wanted to distance themselves from that, and pretended that their point of view was the opposite, only so no one would lump them in with weirdos.
Same problem with the environment. we HAVE to care about the place we all live on and share. But due to eco-terrorists, and kookoo posers, the button down types think, "If I actually seem concerned I'll be... gasp.. outside of my political party's rhetoric."
Global Warming or not, I for one don't want to breath crappy CO2 laiden air, and step through mounds of trash on the street. Recycling takes, what? 10 more minutes? Seems to me, it's people just wanting to be lazy and stay lazy are the problem.
You see, this sort of thing is one of those issues that people store in the closet, pull out every so often, they try to get it to work for a month, and then they put it back in. It's like a fat person on a diet. They change their routine for a little while, lose 25 pounds and automatically stop and fall back into their own habits. And you know what happens when you've lost weight and fall back into your old habits... you gain it all back. Maybe more.
