Well I have seen a lot of changes on Sesame Street over the years, but I have to say I think this is the most upsetting. They've finally stopped showing the episode number, which I can sort of understand, but furthermore, they did away with the letter and number of the day, some staples the show has had since day 1, and basically made Sesame Street what it was. I really can't believe they would decide to do that. This is practically the saddest I've ever been in my life, next to when my mother died.

A bit of an extreme overreaction, don't you think? I may have my reservations about the current format, but it is not as serious as a family member dying. However you may feel about the new format, there's so much worse things in this world than that.

First, I am sorry that you lost your mother. Second, I think that is an outrageous comparison to make. I know that Sesame Street is very much intertwined with your life, but at the end of the day, you are not the show's target demo. This is not worth getting that upset over. Perhaps maybe take this as an opportunity to move on from Sesame Street.

You’re comparing your mother’s death (who, full offense: I’ve seen you both say removing the HBO library was worse than her death to you, and you’ve talked smack about her publicly online even after her passing, both of which quite honestly are disrespectful to the woman who brought you into this world) to a children’s show you’re long out of the target range for anyway.

I do genuinely feel sorry for the loss of your mother because it’s never fun losing a close family member, especially if it’s your own parents, but honestly the fact that you are seriously this obsessed with the show to the point you really get this dramatic over it is honestly telling me just what little hope there is for your future. And I’m saying this in the factors of it’s extremely clear you’re stubborn and set in your ways and refuse to fix anything about your life because you expect life to fix things for you.

If this is how you want to be, I genuinely hope you can get through in life by the time you reach your 50s, God forbid 60s or higher.

I haven't posted here in a long time, though I still check in and read something every day. But I did want to jump in and say that I'm sorry for your loss, for the way you're feeling now, and for the way that people are treating you because of the way you express your feelings. Nobody has the right to tell you how to talk about your own life, your own perspective, or your own grief. Be well.

My Guy if you actually paid attention to how this guy expresses himself, you would see exactly why we have our issues.

Also, I don’t know if you saw (or, for that matter, even bothered to look at) my last message where I brought this up, but I’ll say it once more: HE’S LITERALLY SAID HBO REMOVING THEIR SESAME STREET LIBRARY WAS WORSE THAN HIS MOTHER’S DEATH AND HAS EVEN PUBLICLY TALKED BADLY ABOUT HER AFTER HER DEATH.

If that doesn’t tell you more about what you need to know about this guy, then I dunno what else to say there.

Sounds like the user in question has more than just an obsession with Sesame Street. It sounds more like addiction. Anyone who says HBO removing the Sesame Street episodes being worse than the death of a parent comes out as addiction - a very unhealthy one at that.

I have to admit, I used to be addicted to the show (but on a much lesser level than the user in question), but I did stop watching for quite a while because my parent imposed restrictions on my watching of the show in February 1985, not to mention my interest was in decline already by that point (it may seem like Mr. Hooper's death may have been the peak of my interest). I was able to move on, join the rest of my class and move on to better things. Despite the restrictions and strong obsession, I handled it professionally, likely because I knew - several years in advance - that the end was coming, having realized the show's target age group. If not for the restrictions, I probably would have watched the show far less frequently by Season 20 when the "2 through 12 only" number sponsors would have been done away with in favor of "zero through 20", and by the 1990s many of the classic segments had new sound effects and some having new background music added, rendering the show unwatchable for me. And the show would only get worse after the turn of the century.

After I moved away and got a job (which stands to this day), I do watch the classic episodes and segments on the Internet - but only a couple of nights a week on average.

Regarding the new sound effects and new background music, I'd be quite interested to find out what "Jughead's J Story" sounds like with the new background music added - is that 1990s version on YouTube?

Ok here’s something I don’t quite understand. I thought all of us on here were fans of Sesame Street. That’s why I came here. So why would you be making fun of someone who watches it?
