I feel more like it's Persephone's year, but in reverse...summer (here, that's pretty much mid-April thru mid-Oct) is awful and depresses me immensely; I feel as though I've gone below ground to await the fair seasons again, and the house certainly feels Plutonian enough -- hot and dark and miserable!

Late October, when the heat finally breaks, I rejoice. I seek out anything fall-related through the summer because it helps me survive. Halloween is my ultimate favorite holiday, so anything reminding me of that is welcome throughout the year. November is kind of a building-anticipation month, enjoying cooler temperatures and shorter days (I'm honestly, truly nocturnal, so less daylight is a wonderful thing in my book -- more time for creative work after sundown!), and December I do usually get caught up in some of the old, childlike Xmas spirit, as long as I stay away from the insane, psychopathic crowds at the mall...

January brings my birthday, and I still associate the first part of the month with chilly nights and lights burning throughout (traditionally, my family would leave the tree and decor up through my birthday, which I still do)...there's something ethereal and lovely about seeing small white lights steadily burning throughout a bitter cold, dark night.

February and March are okay...no real associations there. I sort of like spring and new growth...but it makes me think of the oncoming onslaught of summer, so I feel like I have to brace myself.

Am hoping when I return east this whole schedule will ease, and maybe I'll be able to enjoy all the months again.

I'm the same way, when Bush extended DST, not only did I already dislike him, but he really sank in awesome points in my book... and after all these years, I STILL refuse to go with extended DST: I spring forward the first Sunday in April, and I fall back the last Sunday in October. I don't like when the sun is still out after 6:00pm, it's un-natural.

January to me means starting fresh. It's a whole new year and a chance for me to act on my new years resoulutions and just start all over from my past flaws and mistakes.

February is a stable month for me. I'm finally getting back into the groove of things in terms of work, school, etc. my daily routine, after the long holiday breaks.

March is a crazy month. Whoever coined the term "March Madness" wasn't kidding. It seems that everything seems to run together and the pressure is definately on.

April is a time of relief...and a bit of misery, Lol. Spring is finally blooming, meaning my allergies will certainly kick in (though this past Spring they didn't bother me as much). Still, I get spring break to look forward too, and the craziness of the other month has past.

May is when I'm officially tired. Tired of all the work I'd done of the past year, and doing the same daily routine week end and out. Luckily, the year is finally winding down, and summer break is about to begin. So, I use all of the energy I have to pull this last month out.

June is my relaxation period. Just unwinding and taking in the fresh air of summer.

July is summer at it's peak, meaning WARMER days. I describe July as joy and misery. Joy because I'm still on break, misery because it's so hot. And I hate when it's hot, and despise when it's too hot.

August is a dead month to me. Probably my least favorite month of the year. By this time (like now as I'm posting this), I'm usually bored, sick of the heat, and can't wait to go back to school and get back in the groove of things.

September is a month of excitement. Finally getting back into my routine and seeing friends daily again.

October is very special to me. Not only is it my birthday, but fall is officially here. Halloween also kicks off the big holiday season. It's a great time to me. Everything is in full swing around this time.

November is cool. Literally, lol. It's a fun time, Thankgiving break is around the corner, a great time to be with family.

December is a time of reflection. The year end is almost near and a great time for me to reflect on the past year and what I can do to make next year's better. Also, did I mention Christmas is near? It's my favorite holiday, and I LOVE the anticipation building up to it. Christmas specials and events going on around town, It's a swell time. The New Year's Eve marks an end to this month, and I'm excited for what the year ahead has to offer.

Let's see, I'll start from 12/26, which is when the anticipation of a new year starts. I start planning what to do on The Countdown (though I usually go to Taipei 101 with my dad for the fireworks).
Spring: a poetic time. Everything starts to come alive. Leaves start to grow, and flowers blossom on the hills. I feel fresh from the beginning of a new year. I dream about the things that might happen.
Summer: an annoying time. The fresh zing from the new year starts to wear out, and Hot, sticky summer weather comes. Mosquitoes raid me, and the fan is almost on 24 hrs. School's out, but somehow I feel empty even thought Mom gives me lots of work.
Autumn: a relaxing time. School's back in, and the weather's cooler now. (nothing more to say)
Winter: a dreamy time. I look at the cloudy and foggy weather (which is my favorite), and think about my past, and all the things I've done. I think about my long-lost best friend from elementary school, and some other stuff I don't feel comfortable posting here. Than, Christmas! The most wonderful time of the year. I hang up my string of Christmas lights (we don't have a tree, so I hang them on my window), and play Magic 106.7's Christmas playlist every day (though I might switch to MC radio this year). There seems to be magic in the air. Everything seems so welcoming. Makes me feel like a child again. After that, the cycle starts again.

Very intriguing topic, Snowth!

Honestly I've never had that "January is a new beginning" feeling. I've tried to but it's definitely a forced effort. Not that that's a bad thing. January isn't really any different from any other month. And maybe your new beginning will happen to be in March instead!

The next few months are pretty nondescript. I think the changing of the months meant more when I was in school and your situation automatically changed from Spring to Summer.

June, July and August are still pretty nice though because I can finally start wearing shorts or skirts and my new prescription sunglasses, lol. My friends and family get to take walks in the park. It just feels like there's suddenly a lot more freedom overall.

September...remember that song that goes "wake me up when September ends"? That's pretty much me because September just feels like a long delay before the excitement of the holiday season.

October, November, December - FINALLY! I'm not ashamed to admit I am the biggest fan (or sucker) that the Holiday Season ever had, lol. It's an interruption from the ordinary doldrums of the year and it encompasses all aspects of your life. Your neighbors show off their decorating creativity. TV commercials take on charming little catchphrases like "On your wish list this year" and "from our family to yours." If you're having a rough day at work, you can be cheered up just by going to the local drug store to look at Halloween, Thanksgiving or Christmas cards, lol. There's so many things that recall childhood memories (like listening to my Sesame Street Christmas Sing Along album, hehe). I get to see my family, which I don't do nearly often enough. A couple of years ago I got to help my Church organize presents for the needy and that definitely helped put the bigger picture in perspective. I know the holidays can be a stressful time too but for me it's a relief from the rest of the year.

play Magic 106.7's Christmas playlist every day (though I might switch to MC radio this year)
Oh my gosh, yes! That's my Christmas station too; it never gets old, lol. But yeah I definitely recommend MC radio too; the Muppets have such a rich collection of holiday music.

Y'know, I've been genuiflecting today...

August is my least favorite month of the year, mainly because it almost feels like a filler month: nothing goes on, it's long, you've already survived June and July and you're just counting down the days till September (which makes it pass even slower)...

But then, I got to thinking about January... now, I DO like January: it's the middle of winter, which is my favorite season, but I've come to realize that there's similarities between it and August, namely it too is a long month, and tends to feel like filler - nothing really noteworthy or of particular rememberance happens that month, but I think I've kind of figured out why that is. All of the major holidays have just passed: Canadian Thanksgiving, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzza, New Years, and such... it's almost as if January becomes a month-long chill period. That probably explains why it feels like not a whole lot happens in January... at least with February, there's Valentine's Day, but at the same time, it's also when you have to enjoy life while you can.

Being negative, I'd say any colorful poop synonym that comes out of that Angry Video game Nerd guy's mouth...

Like, a couple really good things happen a year, and the rest of it either sucks or is completely uneventful.

To break it down season by season... Spring-Mid-Fall: Great! Winter sucks. It's cold, it's dark, I'm stuck at home even MORE. I'm not saying it has to be 90 degrees every day, but I just can't function below 40 degrees. And it gets really below that as soon as November hits here.

I'm the exact opposite: summer sucks, I can't function in heat, but winter is great.

Yeah... maybe you were onto something there earlier... let's switch places.
