I wouldn't doubt it.

The novel is about the last man on earth, holed up in his home all night, while the vampires try to coax him out. By day, he travels throughout the empty town, going from house to house, destroying the sleeping creatures. He's not an action hero or a superman. He's an average, middle-aged, middle-class survivor of a worldwide plague who finds himself in an extraordinary circumstance.

It probably wouldn't make such an "exciting" movie had the filmmakers gone this route, so as in The Omega Man, they turned a horror/suspense novel into more of an action film.

Wonder how the filmmakers will work the title into the film. In the novel, Robert Neville is perceived as the monster, the destroyer, who exterminates the creatures of the night with wooden stakes or by dragging their sleeping bodies out into the sunlight. He is the last of his kind: "I am legend."

This film has been on and off for years. At one point, it was to have starred Arnold Schwarzenegger.
It would make sense for it to be an action flick with Schwarzenegger in it. But I see what you mean by it being a sort of dark, fell good bad guy save the day in the end kind of film.

**POSSIBLE SPOILER (BASED ON THE NOVEL)**

The "hero" of the book, Robert Neville, ultimately realizes he cannot survive in the new world. He is the last of his kind.

I don't think the new version will go with the ending of the book, but the two previous adaptations did, although both endings differed from Matheson's original finale.

Well, it will be interesting to see how the ending will actually turn out.

Hmm...so it's a vampire movie? I didn't see that moving. Unless it's been updated with nuclear zombie men...

I know that a scientist create a virus and makes people eat human flesh on it, and that he the only remaining survivor.

Ahhh! So it's sort of...scientific vampires...created by science? That makes sense. I'm still excited to see the movie, although the trailer didn't give me a 'flesh-eating creatres' vibe at all. Which, I suppose, makes it a good trailer in that it caught my attention without giving away the story.

I'm looking also looking forward to see Batman Begins 2: The Dark Knight. Sure, I'd love to see Robin in the new Batman style...but I can understand why they won't go in that direction. Although...I can totally see Nightwing fitting with the Batman Begins style.

My brother firmly believed that the new Batman movie should be called "Batman Begins Returns." I must say, I agree.

I'm excited about it too, though. It's filming in Chicago this summer, and we're moving there in a couple of weeks. Maybe I can hang out on the streets long enough to sneak my way into the movie!

Vampires in the original novel. Mutant creatures in the new version, or "nuclear zombie men" if you prefer. This seems closer to The Omega Man.

Batman Begins Returns...interesting.

Of course, we all know it should have been called either "Robin Begins", "Batwoman Begins", "Catwoman Begins (again)", or "That-new-character-who-Morgan-Freemon-played Begins".

Im convinced Christopher Nolan can do no wrong, this movie is destine for greatness. Besides Batman Begins, his other two movies Momento and The Prestige were absolutly incredible as well. His brother Johnathan Nolan is the writer for all his movies and knows how to pen an amazing flick with story and unpredictable twists and turns.
