I've been thinking a bit more about my idea for multiple two-disc anniversary collections. This might sound a bit "out there", but how about four collections: A random selection of clips that mostly hadn't been released on video, a random selection of clips that have been released on video (including out-of-print releases, the InteractiVision and Sesame Street TV releases, Shalom Sesame releases, iTunes "Sesame Street Classics" releases, and the otherwise unreleased clips that appear in the Count TV app), a release of the greatest clips that have not been released on video, and a release of the greatest clips that have been released on video (likely countless times)?
Of course, which release order would be best? I guess that'd depend on which consumers are most important, the casual fans (who would probably see the release of the best stuff that has been released on video as the best choice, assuming they aren't aware of all video releases) or us (who would likely treasure the unreleased-on-video ones the most)? And would they note any of that info on the packaging?
Here's a sample of what clips I would classify in those areas (not a full wishlist):
Random Released Segments (I'll also note where these clips have been released) - Ernie's doctor visits (Best of Ernie and Bert), Kermit Casting Director (Old School Volume 2), Little Miss Count-Along (Best of Friends), One of Us Here (Old School Volume 2), Buddy and Jim: Ironing Board (Sesame Street Classics Volume 1), Monsterpiece Theater: Ali Baba and the 40 Thieves (Sesame Street Classics Volume 1), Kermit News: Directions for Little Red Riding Hood (Sesame Street Classics Volume 2), Big Hello 1-20 (Old School Volume 3), I Am Proud of Me (Sesame Street Classics Volume 2).
