Wow... Bob's appearing in "Great Vibrations," too. That makes THREE appearances by Bob this season. That's more than he has made in a single season in a long time. It's kind of sad that this is the case, seeing as it is only three episodes, but I'll take what I can get. Sort of like Susan making four new appearances last season. Desiree Casado (Gabi) is a middle school teacher now, so she probably doesn't have much time to appear on the show, which shoots in the morning during weekdays. Hopefully her character isn't retired, but Gabi will probably be a scarcity from now on.
I haven't been keeping up with post on this forum at all this season, but here are some of my comments anyway. I will only comment on street stories since they are posted online on the website, and since I have school they are the only things I have seen.
"Hansel and Gretel's Playdate with Big Bird"- I liked it, but it got a little boring after a while with the sheer repetition. Stray Observations: 1.) When Hansel and Gretel called to Big Bird from outside his nest, he walked around his door instead of just opening it. Why is that? It was weird. 2.) Stephanie and Matt seemed to be having some fun with the accents, and they sure were entertaining from my perspective. 3.) I know him personally and he is a good friend of mine, but I'm still surprised by how well Caroll is holding up as Big Bird. I think he is doing great. The voice has changed a little over time, but that is to be expected and happens to everyone.
"Brandeis is Looking for a Job"- Always nice to see (or hear) John Tartaglia back on Sesame Street. This was a cool episode with an interesting topic, and I think it was done well. I know this aired for Disability Awareness Month and I think they rocked it. Stray Observations: 1.) Why were all of a sudden so many service dogs and furniture displays in the arbor? That was funny to see. I know they had to explain different kinds of service dogs, so I'm not taking this one too seriously. It was just amusing to see.
"Me Am What Me Am"- Even with this episode, people are still going to incorrectly call him Veggie Monster... It's just something we have to live with. (Curse you, "Cookie is a Sometimes Food." YOU STARTED THIS.) This, however, was amusing and a nice episode. Stray Observations: heh heh... Lamppost Monster...
"Afraid of the Bark"- Yay! Barkley's becoming a semi-regular again! This was a cool episode! Loved the reappearances of Bob and Barkley, and having an episode FOCUS on Zoe for a change, instead of just having her along for the ride, was a nice change. Stray Observations: 1.) Every night, I say a prayer that Barkley becomes a real dog instead of a man in a puppet so I can play with him and have him as my pet... I can dream, can't I? I just want to hug him. 2.) Having a close-up on the slobbery Rocco was a little disturbing. 3.) Grover! You're there, too! 4.) Hey, Gina! You're here again, too! Talking about dogs again!
"The Very End of X"- I was at the studio for the taping of this episode, so I'm a little biased. But I loved it. Big Bird and Snuffy making a second appearance together this season! They really have only appeared together once a season for the last few seasons... I love BB-centered episodes, too. Matt was very funny as the announcer-guy-person. Stray Observations: 1.) I love Nitya Vidyasagar and everything she does and says. 2.) That song was really catchy.
"Finish the Splat"- The street looks...populated. So populated. Kids! Maria! Leela! Chris! Oscar! Abby! It looks like.....a city street! Anywho, this episode I thought was very funny and cute. Abby and Oscar I think work really well together, because they are such polar opposites of each other so they balance out. (Pink and sparkly versus green and dingy... Sitcom magic!) Stray Observations: 1.) I don't think it lasted because of some newer appearances with the old one, but I am starting to warm up to that Abby puppet. Seems like Leslie can control it a little better and can do more facial expressions with it. 2.) Fluffy! I'll be ******, you're here, too!
"Build a Better Basket"- *I only saw "Make That Basket Stronger" so I cannot comment on the whole street scene since I haven't seen it yet* Isn't that supposed to be the "I Love My Hair" girl? If not, please correct me (again I haven't seen the episode) It was odd seeing her sing with Stephanie's voice coming out. But catchy song.
"Lifting Snuffy"- Whoa.... Three Snuffy appearances in one season? I can dig it. It's different, but cool, seeing him without Big Bird, showing he is more than just his sidekick. This episode had a slow start for me, but all in all I think Snuffy's "swan" comments kinda made up for that. Stray Observations: 1.) I don't think they should have made Gina and Alan do some of the "brainstorming" for solutions to the problem. The comments they made were obviously simplified to the level where a preschooler could understand it, but that's why I think one of the Muppets should have said them and not one of the adults. It made Gina, especially, seem a little ditsy saying them. 2.) I wonder if they green-screened Snuffy floating or not. It didn't look that way, but I'm not sure. 3.) Child-dialogue or not, Gina has gotten some good episodes this season.
"Trashgiving Day"- I liked this episode a lot, but the constant "Wow! Water can do anything!!!" vibe sort of got real old real fast. Stray Observations: 1.) Chris's hair... 2.) Wish Grundgetta had said something or sang a part of that song. That was her first appearance since season 40 I think... 3.) Gordon... Man, Gordon made me chuckle with his appearance in a trash suit. 4.) Richard Kind was amusing as well.
Usually they always make 26 NEW episodes per season, and since season 41 have been tacking on re-runs from previous seasons to bulk it up a bit. This season there aren't even 26 new ones. There's 26, but they are composed of new episodes and re-runs. Hopefully this is just a one-time thing with their weird shooting schedule...
