Case of the Missing Socks and Cave of the Lost Fraggle (1988, UK)

Published in 1988 by Carnival. Weekly Reader Reissues. Hardcover. 32 pages each.

A publishing company called Carnival located in London, England released smaller yet taller formatted Fraggle Rock books originally part of the Weekly Reader line.

These books are interesting due to their odd size. They measure 7 inches tall and 4 1/2 inches wide, which is about half the size of the original versions. The illustrations had to be reduced and cropped in on some pages to fit this different size. The cover illustrations are also different as they are each taken from one of the pages from the story instead of using the original covers. This was done mostly likely to accommodate the changed size.

There may be more in this series, but these are the most common:

  1. The Case of the Missing Socks
  2. The Cave of the Lost Fraggle

Doozers Big and Little Diecut Cardboard Book (1988)

Published in 1988 by Longmeadow Press. Written by Joanne Barkan. Illustrated by John Nez. Softback. 10 pages.

Two diecut books were released as part of the large series of Fraggle Rock learning books released during the year that the animated series aired. Both books measure approximately 5 1/2 by 7 inches and are diecut to the shapes of the cover illustrations. Both books in this series were written and drawn by the same two people.

"Doozers Big and Little" features the Doozers demonstrating opposites.

Boober's Colorful Soup (1988)

Published in 1988 by Longmeadow Press. Written by Joanne Barkan. Illustrated by John Nez. Softback. 10 pages.

"Boober's Colorful Soup" shows how many different colored vegetables Boober puts in his soup. It's fun to note that the yellow Waggleby creature from the Weekly Reader book "Waggleby in Fraggle Rock" is back and helping Boober cook.

Fraggle Fables (1988)

Published in 1988 by Longmeadow Press. Written by Louise Gikow. Illustrated by Lauren Attinello. Hardcover. 8 pages each.

The Fraggle Fables books consist of five 4 1/2 by 3 1/2 cardboard books that all fit into a glossy slipcase. Each book contains a short poetic fable about one of the five Fraggles. They are 8 pages long. The box front illustration features what may be an odd version of the Storyteller reading to the Fraggle Five and the back shows Wembley and Boober doing some version of Fraggle Disco.

The titles in this boxed set are:

  1. Gobo Who Wouldn't Give In
  2. Red Who Wanted To Win
  3. Boober Who Wasn't Too Brave
  4. Wembley Who Couldn't Say No
  5. Mokey Whose Feelings Were Hurt
