Herbert Becker makes offer to acquire 100% of Henson Courtesy
of GlobalMedia GlobalMedia, a privately held company run by entrepreneur and inventor, Herbert L. Becker has made an offer to purchase 100% of the Jim Henson Company from EM.TV and Merchandising AG. GlobalMedia will become the first company to use Beckers new technology, which allows broadcasters to transmit their telecast via the Internet rather than via satellite or cable. The new system will also allow broadcasters to send their signals directly to individuals rather than relying upon cable companies to redistribute television to the consumer. Using the new broadcasting system, broadcasters will be able to have more control over their signals and achieve significant savings in distribution costs. Customers will be able to watch the networks either on their television, on their computers or on wireless devices. Although others have been looking into the possibility of acquiring part or all of the Henson Company, Becker believes his offer is the best one for EM.TV because he is looking to acquire all of the company at a premium rather than have it cut up piece meal. |
