What are some of your favorite quotes from the classic special, Muppet Family Christmas?
What great timing! I have my own little Thanksgiving tradition of watching Muppet Family Christmas.
Anyway, one of my favorite quotes belongs to Sam the Eagle: "Why am I here?"
Am i allowed to paste the whole script here ?
I'm really interested in specific quotes that people remember when they think of the special...
some of my favorites. geez. let me think.
DOC:I don't care if the turkey says the dog's a turkey. The dog's not the turkey. The turkey's the turkey you turkey.
OSCAR:Gee I never roomed with a rat before. That might be kinda nice.
GROVER:Hello I am a mouse and I am not stirring. Notice how the hand does not touch the spoon.
MA BEAR:Well I'm off to Florida!
"Watch out for the icy patch!"
DOC:I guess even weirdos are cute when they're little.
PHOTOGRAPHER:Ok. Now the pouty thing. The pouty thing. Yes perfect. (just Hunt's delivery is great)
and perhaps my favorite
JANICE:Hey everyone. Who wants Christmas cookies?
(Cookie eats them)
JANICE:Who was that strange blue creature?
ANIMAL:Him my kinda fella.
There's tons more I can't even think of right now. Any of the scenes with Gonzo,The Turkey and Camilla are hilarious. Same thing with Fozzie and the Snowman. I love this special.
i was just watching the deleted scenes on The Muppet Christmas website and found these classics:
ROWLF:Oh boy. This piano's out of tune. I love out of tune pianos.
FLOYD:Look it's Miss Hamhock when she was just a little sausage roll.
BUNSEN:There's Rowlf when he was just a little wee pup.
ROWLF:What do you mean wee. I was paper trained.
GONZO:What a handsome little devil I was.
My sister and I love that quote. We use it whenever we can...
Though it's not really a quote, one of my favorite parts is the following:
Kermit breaks up a fight between Gonzo and the Christmas Turkey when the frog hears the sound of carollers coming. All of a sudden you see and hear the Sesame Street cast marching down the sloping hills singing their harts out, before reaching the large bay window and then entering Ma Bear's house.
Another quote I fondly remember is Robin: "Here, Grover, I want to give you this Fraggle pebble."
Grover: "Thank you Robin, I'll always love this cute little Fraggle pebble."
That's all for now, and happy holidays to all!
Animal: PEACE ON EARTH! Gimme presents.
Wembley: "I'll say!"
Actually, that sounds like a good idea, BlueFrackle. It's been a while since I've seen that show. It would be nice to see a transcript of it.
Animal: "WIRE HANGERS! WIRE HANGERS!! AHHH!"
Janice: "Look what I've got! Christmas Cookies!!"
Cookie Monster: "COOKIES!" (Demolishes plate of cookies)
Janice: "Who was that strange creature?"
Animal: "Dat my kinda fella! Ahhh!"
Bert: "Monsters as reindeer?"
Bert: "Ernie why must you always humiliate me?"
Ernie : "Somebody had to play Mama, and you lost the toss!"
Bert: "Okay, lets just get it over with!!"
"It's cold enough to freeze your Winebageo! AAAH!"
Miss Piggy: "OHHH! Green fuzzy flipper slippers! Ah, have them gift wrapped."
Animal: "Peace on Earth, Gimme presents!"
David Rudman (offscreen, as photographer): "Okay, now, do the pouty thing!!"
Gonzo: "I'm about to make some turkey hash!"
Turkey: "I tell ya, chicken little, you're my kinda poultry!"
Kermit: "Fozzie, it's too cold to go outside!"
Fozzie: "It's not cold!"
Kermit: "It IS cold!"
(Snowman, opens the door, shivering)
Snowman: "Can I come in and warm up?"
Fozzie: ".... Okay so it's cold."
Swedish Chef: "Chickey and de ratty in der bunska bunska!"
MFC is my absolute favorite Muppet special. Nothing can top that one. One of my dearest memories is watching it with my (older) cousins, and one of them crying with laughter when she saw the penguins. She couldn't stop crying for quite a while!
Anyway my favorite quotes:
Rowlf: "Whoa ho! Boy is this piano outta tune! ... I love outta tune pianos."
Doc: "We hadn't met any of you a while ago, and now we're friends!"
Gonzo to Turkey: "Cranberry breath!"
At the very end of MFC, my favorite quote, hands down:
"...I like it when they have a good time."
The Doc/Bert/Ernie conversation is one of my favorites, but I can't remember the entire thing, unfortunately...
Yeah. That's great.
"Where we come from this is small talk."
Bert to Doc: 'Where we come from, that's considered small talk'
Janice: ack...ok I forget exactly what she said, but it was in reference to Cookie Monster scarfing down a plate of cookies.
So cool to see a thread about MFC...Im planning on watching the dvd soon with my family. I truly think its one of the greatest things the Muppets have ever done.
Sam: "Is nothing sacred? Augh!"
Doc: "Sprocket, go get my hammer!"
Emily: "...I'd like to welcome you all here---uh---you are all here, aren't you?"
And this exchange has been mentioned, like, 5 or 6 times already, but here it is verbatim:
Janice: "HEY everybody! Look what I've got---Christmas cookieees!"
Cookie Monster: "COOKIEEES!! AUMMMM-OHMM-OHM-OHM-OHM-OHMMM! AUMMM-OHMM-OHM-OHM---oh, thank you!"
Janice: "Who was that strange blue creatuuurre?"
Animal: "That my kinda fella! Ha-aa-aa-aa-aah!"
This one I thought was pretty priceless:
Kermit, Doc, Sprockett and The Count are looking outside at the raging blizzard
DOC: Boy that storm sure is getting worse!
KERMIT: Yeah, I hope Miss Piggy will be OK
DOC: (to the Count) That is one worried frog, I tell you.
COUNT: Aha! That's One...One worried frog!
ROBIN: And he's not the only one!
COUNT: That's two...two worried frogs! Aha-ha-ha-ha! (thunder and lightning outside)
Doc and Sprockett look at each other in bewilderment and Doc says "Hmm...must be more of that "small talk" I think.
I have a favorite SCENE.....It's the one when the Swedish Chef has been TRYING SO HARD to cook Big Bird for dinner, and Big Bird comes up and talks about how he found out thev Chef was from Sweden and that's really far away and that meant the Chef was really far away from his family for Christmas, and so Big Bird gave him a card or present or something. It was GREAT, mixing TMS humor and SS sweetness! Besides, when else do you get to see the Sweish Chef be so TOUCHED, and more than just a wacky character?
