Hey Everyone,
If you don't know me, I'm Arianne, aka Muppetfan44. You can usually find me in Fan Fiction and Fan Art, where I spend most of my time reading (and recently finished writing) fan fiction. I especially enjoy fan fiction focused around the most famous interspecies pair: Kermit and Piggy.

This should be my 100th post, which I was going to start a new fan-fiction based on Miss Piggy's 1980's calendar images, but after listening to Muppetcast episode 63 and after thinking about this for a couple of years, I've decided to start a different project which is anything but fiction: The Fig Files

The Fig Files is a working name because I had difficulty coming up with anything else, but basically the Fig Files will be sort of a timeline like reference that chronicles how the Jim Henson company has portrayed Kermit and Piggy's romantic relationship over the years. (Steve from the muppetcast suggested to put in on Muppetwiki, which sounds like a great idea to me, since i have been able to use Muppet-wiki to get some of my information!) It will include references from The Muppet Show, the muppet movies, and other TV and public appearances that will be used as evidence to support my theory on the whole subject that kind of goes like this:

I really enjoy this topic because I think that the reason why the relationship is never clearly defined has to do with a sense of time. Having a clear-cut relationship status for our pig and frog duo would make it difficult to keep the characters in the timeless form that we all enjoy. If they ever did officially get married, it would be like placing an age or status on the characters that would make it difficult to keep the characters timeless and continue to build story plots around them that interest all ages. If they were officially married; events such as anniversaries and children place age restrictions on the characters that I don't think the Jim Henson Company ever wanted to place on the pair, And besides, the mystery that seems to always surround their relationship keeps fans eagerly anticipating new projects, to see if fans get a new glimpse or small piece of juicy gossip on the relationship status of the most popular inter-species couple in the world of modern fictional characters. Could this also be the reason why Mikey and Minnie Mouse never officially tied the knot? We may never know!

But, it's a great idea to start this new resource for Muppet fans to enjoy. I've called it the Fig Files because whenever the subject of children for Kermit and Piggy come up, bouncing baby figs are usually always mentioned. Each new piece of information we find out about how Kermit and Piggy relationship has been portrayed can be called a fig! Cute huh?

I have talked to Steve about this a little and hopefully he might be able to use this for one of his shows (or series of shows depending on all the information, which I know there is tons out there). I first got introduced to the forums and great Piggy-Kermit fan fiction from a website that is exclusively about Kermit and Piggy's relationship. I want this to be like that but more of a historical reference that chronicles the relationship.

My plan of action right now is to start looking back at my own stuff i've collected (YouTube videos, show and movie references, a lot of neat stuff from Toughpigs.com, etc) and just try to make a working list of different ways Kermit and Piggy, and other characters have referenced the famous relationship, or lack thereof. From there I want to find audio and video we can incoporate for different "figs" of info.

Since this is such a big project, I am definitely going to need some help! I have found a lot of stuff over the past few years but I know there is probably more out there that I have missed. That is why I want to see if the MuppetCentral Forum Community, the best muppet-fan community out there, would like to help me to make the Fig Files a reality. I want to gather information and slowly update it to Muppet-wiki, but depending on the interest, slow to turn into Muppety-high-paced craziness. I was thinking of trying to divide into categories like Muppetwiki does, such as The Muppet Show, TV appearances, merchandise, Movie references, literature, and assign a few people to each category, with myself trying to oversee and contribute to the overall information pool. I definitely want to keep it Hensonesque though by lettting anyone who wants to incorporate ideas and opinions be able to do so.

I am literally bubbling over with excitement over this, and I hope others are too, especially my fellow Kermit-Piggy romantics. I'm going to start making an outline for categories and start filling them in a word document for now, which in the next week or so I will try to upload and update on to Muppet-wiki. Please let me know by posting on this thread or contacting me via private message or my e-mail (muffy90@aol.com, after my beloved first pet, not a porn star, which people always ask).

And with that, the Fig Files are officially born!
:smile::mad:
p.s. can we get a graphic where piggy doesn't look angry?

Muppetwiki

I'm also going to be reading up how to post stuff on Muppetwiki, since I am kind of technologically challenged when it comes to uploading thigs onto websites. Any help in that department would also be incredibly awesome!

Hi... You might need to become a member at Muppet Wiki before you can upload or improve any articles. BTW: A few citations fer ya...
1 The Wedding Sketch, from Merissa Berenson TMS episode, Season 3, marking Lew Zealand's debut.
2 Victor Borge TMS episode from Season 4, where Piggy looks after Bobby Bensen's babies. Bobby returns for the final number and the babies leave Piggy, somewhat thankfully/obliviously. One of the babies, voiced by Jerry Nelson falls, and Kermit catches him.
Baby: Froggy daddy, piggy mommy.

Oh, and Prawny got his show started with an opening number, you might want to drop by and read up.
Bye. :batty: :sympathy:
