You have a talent for a well-turned phrase: the "furiously clean" hallway, "motherly frills with a dash of power"...striking and original.
Likewise, your plotting is excellent. Suspense without melodrama, well done. Is this abandoned baby a piglet? Some other Muppet? Does Piggy have baby fever so bad she's grabbing the first option she sees, or will this be a good decision?
Please keep going as you have time and energy. Enjoying very much.
