The former New York City mayor, who had a bit part in Muppets Take Manhattan, passed away at the age of 88. He helped turn New York around back in the 70's after years of decline, and he made as many enemies as he did friends, but he was never boring.

Koch could be a pistol. He came up with some nasty insults for people sometimes, but he did save the city from financial ruin. Tough love.

In 1983, Ed Koch appeared in the "Great Muppet Look-Alike Contest" in the Winter 1983 issue of Muppet Magazine, paired with Gonzo.

He also made a guest cameo appearance in The Muppets Take Manhattan:

:concern:: Mr. Mayor! Mr. Mayor, I'm looking for a frog who can sing and dance!
Ed Koch: If he can balance the budget, I'll hire him!
