Hello Everyone,
My apologies for not having written in so long, but I've had an awfully busy time lately.
That being said, I'd like to start a series of Discussions on Disney Acquisition What-Ifs, but before I do, Disney, as we all know here, has already had a Multitude of Acquisitions e.g. LucasFilm, Ltd., Pixar, and most recently The Rupert Murdoch Company (a.k.a. 20th Century Fox, now officially 20th Century Studios).
In light of such acquisitions, I'd like to present Disney Acquisitions What-Ifs, and today's Disney Acquisition What-If is MGM Film Holdings, Inc., the parent company of Metro Goldwyn Mayer Films and MGM Domestic Television.
Now, nothing is official as of this writing, but personally, I predict that by 2025, MGM Film Holdings, Inc. will be purchased by The Walt Disney Company.
When/IF that happens, among the MGM Film properties Disney would be gaining include, but not limited to, the following shows and films.
1. The James Bond Franchise -- All 20+ James Bond movies e.g. "Dr. No," "Tomorrow Never Dies" & "Casino Royale" to name but a few starring, at different times, Sean Connery, Roger Moore, George Lazenby, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan & Daniel Craig, respectively, would be owned by Disney.
2. My Mother The Car -- The notorious 1965 sitcom flop originally produced by MGM subsidiary United Artists Television, starring Jerry Van Dyke as Dave Crabtree and Ann Sothern as the title character of "My Mother The Car."
3. The Addams Family -- They're Creepy and They're Cooky, They're Altogether Ooky, They Really Are So Spooky, and They'd be owned by Disney IF it were to purchase MGM Film Holdings, Inc. They're "The Addams Family," the original '60s sitcom classic originally airing on the ABC Television Network for 2 years; both the original B&W series AND the recent film remake would be owned by Disney IF they purchased MGM Film Holdings, Inc. (NOT included in the Disney Acquisition would be the '90s "Addams Family" movies made by Paramount)
4. Kids Incorporated -- Considering it originally aired on Disney Channel, you'd think "Kids Incorporated" was owned by Disney, but you'd be wrong. MGM Film Holdings, Inc. owns the rights to "Kids Incorporated," producing the show throughout its 9-year run; its first 2 seasons originally aired on NBC from 1984-1986, but after 2 seasons of poor ratings on Saturday mornings, NBC cancelled it, and the series was picked up by the then-infant Disney Channel, where it flourished for the rest of its run until the series ceased production.
As such, IF Disney were to purchase MGM Film Holdings, Inc., all future MGM film titles would be Distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures upon theatrical release, whether it be on Disney Plus or in actual Movie Theaters.
Anyone else agree with me on this? I'd love to read your opinions on this.
