Anyone else think that D A is a bit stuck up?

I probably shouldn't say anything because it might jinx it, but it looks like dA's FINALLY done something about the ads automatically refreshing every 30, 60, or 90 seconds, at least on the deviation pages, but that's where it really counts. Took them long enough.

I've finally just up and left dA. I'm still gettin' nothing. I've had a donation pool opened for SEVERAL, SEVERAL months, and I'm still not getting any point donations, meanwhile it seems like other artists, who have had donation pools opened for only a short while are getting tons of GENEROUS donations (sometimes from the same people over and over again), and are gettin' themselves lengthily premium memberships... after four years, I STILL haven't been able to enjoy the luxury of a premium membership, other than when dA itself gave everyone a free ride for one day simply for watching a stupid little video about cats.

I've only been able to scrounge for points through those llama badge trades (and one point commission)... I've accumulated up to over 30 points that way, but that still leaves me like 600 short for a premium membership for just a month.

I'm done.

I cannot believe that someone reported, and had one of my old deviations deleted, even though it was clearly marked with a mature warning to make sure that very thing doesn't happen... and considering there's a whole lot worse things on dA, my old pic wasn't even really THAT dirty.

I hate to dig through the forums and drudge something up, but I have a freaking complaint I can no longer keep to myself.

I am freaking sick of the Ed Edd n' Eddy club someone invited me to. It's turned into a dumping ground of anime versions of adult versions of OC's in various relationships with other anime versions of adult versions of OC's. To the point where they don't resemble anything anymore. I'm thinking of deleting them from my watch list. I mean, my favorite EEE artist I'm subscribed to anyway.

Like I said in the other thread, I stopped watching my favorite EEE artist a long time ago, because he's barely an EEE artist anymore, almost everything he does now is just plain filth; he's got like 15 or some different pics of Timmy Turner being sexually harassed or assaulted by different cartoon women.

Definitely not my favorite EEE artist.

But if the EEE club is going to be full of terrible relationship porn (where people, usually female artists ship for the sake of shipping), at least make it Bishonen/bishojo style characters that originated from the show with characters that originated from the show. No stupid anime style versions of OC characters with other OC characters where they don't even remotely resemble the characters. I mean, there's crap about Vampire hunters and none of the Cul-De-Sac kids are ever involved.

That kind of dates way back... remember The Edd Zone (later renamed Edtropolis)? It was like the premiere EEE fansite there was on the web, even approved by Danny Antonucci himself, as well as number of the aka CARTOON personnel were aware of its existence; but it also a home for a number of fan works: fan art, fan fiction, fan poetry, etc. and OCs abounded (admittedly, I evented an EEE OC named Ted, who was a bespectacled dork that became like the unofficial fourth Ed since his name rhymed), but the webmistress did implement certain rules for OCs, such as fanfics were prohibited from becoming too focused on them, and a each OC had to appear in X amount of fanfics (in a supporting role) before they would be recognized on the site itself (which had an encyclopedic index of OCs)... in the fan art section, however, it wasn't too uncommon to see pics from artists of nothing but OCs, and like you say, sometimes they're not even in the EEE style, some were anime/manga style, some looked more like Disney/Bluth-esque designs... and yes, I seem to recall there being a thing about vampire hunters as well... in fact, I think one fan on that site had like this series that involved Double D having a dracula-esque counterpart.

I think the webmistress finally became bored and gave up the site altogether a few years back, I remember there being outcry because it was such a vast site (it'd be like if ToughPigs were shut down), but some people try to relive it through the Wayback Machine.

But I agree, that's always been one of my biggest problems when it comes to OCs and shippers, that was an issue I had even with the Chipmunk fandom, often times whenever an OC was created, it was usually a Munked version of the fan, who wanted to ship themselves with their favorite Chipmunk or Chipette (and no, I never Munked myself so I could pair myself with Jeanette), but even then, there were cases of some fans trying to ship their OC(s) with someone else's OC(s)... then again, THAT fandom has loads of problems with shipping in general, which is why I don't ship anymore myself, because flame wars between canon shippers and mixed shippers get utterly ridiculous.

That is totally what happens to the Eds. Author Avatar Mary Sues that want to get it on with their other crappy OC's.

I haven't invented a lot of OCs myself, but when I do, they actually serve purpose to a plot, rather than just being Mary Sues or Gary Stus... in fact, I've only invented three OCs over the years: two were for The Chipmunks, one of which was female chipmunk hired to pose as The Chipettes' long-lost mother to lure them back to Australia, the other was a wallaby who assists the others in attempts to rescue them; and the other was for M*A*S*H and was actually an AU OC who was sent to the 4077th by I-Corps to take over for Radar as company clerk since Klinger left a lot to be desired.

Oh yeah, and there was the aforementioned Ted for EEE, but other than that, those are the ONLY OCs I've ever created.

I have no problem with OC's at all. Just when they're flat and become too prominent in fan art.

I said heck with it and edited it so I don't get the submissions in my watch list. Another fan fic comic about 2 OC's that are remotely even related to the show in so not the style of the show's artwork, writing, or humor and I was going to lose it. LOSE IT!
