I was wondering about that too. So your saying that though Disney owns the Muppets, they still don't own the rights to the original recordings. Also, I was thinking maybe the reason some of the eps are cut was since they spent money restoring the original openings, they decided to save some extra money by cutting some other things out. Just a thought.
Not quite  They own the rights to the shows; they likely do not own the rights to any non-original music or lyrics.

I wouldn't have thought that the cost of restoration would have anything to do with it. Apart from anything else, there is no reason whatsoever to suppose that they had to do anything apart from pick the correct tape from the shelf.

One of the few things about the muppet morsels that i would have changed would be that there would be muppet morsels during the ending credits. This could have given way for more random facts, facts about the closing, and facts about the musicians and/ or orchestra. the only time that a morsel appears after the credits is in the ben Vereen epsiode, where it says that statlers reaction to his pants being on fire was cut from the original american broadcast. I would have also liked it if the morsels gave credit to who wrote the scripts for many of the sketches and backstage scenes. Maybe not every scene, but most of them.

I'm only up to the end of the first disc and I am already annoyed at the spinning Kermit head, question marks and stars that announce the next morsel. Small complaint though, because the rest of the set rocks!

I'm surprised at the number of reaccuring acts in these early episodes. It seems that Fozzie, At the Dance and Wayne and Wanda and the Muppet Newsman had a spot in every episode. The only thing that really changed were the guest sketches (and the UK sketches.

I can't wait to see the first Pigs in Space, Bear on Patrol and Muppet Labs.

Toast!

3)anathema: Time-Life screwed up and omitted to get clearance for their release (it happens).
In that case, they really "didn't screw up"

I belive it was said by on the Muppet News Flash that situation has changed since Time-Life's release as stated in #1.

I watched the Pitch Reel (which didn't really enthuse me that much, the lack of Kermit eally did loose it, *moan, moan* lol. The only bit in it that made me laugh was, "And Kermit's Mother will be happy.")
Yeah, the loss of the Kermit appearance at the end is unfortunate. A fun fact: Now, anyone who has seen the Muppet Meeting films will recognize this pitch as a slightly modified version of the Sell! Sell! Sell! meeting film.

Well I FINALLY got my Muppet Show Season 1 set in the mail today from amazon! (took 'em long enough didn't it?)

It's awesome. So far I've watched (in this order) the Muppet Pitch Reel, the gag/promo reel, Sex and Violence, and the first episode. It's all really great! The menus are so awesome. The cuts don't really bother me either (considering if I hadn't heard about them, I wouldn't have KNOWN about them so it's not like I'm missing anything lol).

Now I'm waiting for Seasons 2-5 :halo:

I'm really enjoying mine, so far, I've watched the Pitch, Gag Reel, Pilot, and the first 20 episode (Over several days, of course) and all that allow Muppet Morsels.

I just love it, I've gotten a new appriciation for George The Janitor, Mildred Huxtteter, Hilda, Droop, and Brewsters/The Guru then I ever have before. Plus I also like their "Karate Chop Count".

My Two Cents...not that it's high in wisdom...

Okay, I forced my dad to buy me the set the day it came out. (I'm not kidding, and no I couldn't wait). I've really loved it. I didn't know until about 5 seconds ago that some of the episodes were edited. (I had a hunch seeing as I had some songs that weren't there). Edited or not, I gotta say. Look what we got people! It's a season set. For many of us younger fans this is the first time we've ever seen some of these episodes. I can't say that I haven't loved it. Okay, I'm still excited. (I've also watched the thing 5 times). I just have one question...so when can I buy Season 2  ???
