Well, I'm gonna be going on my cruise tomorrow through Saturday, and I saved some space in the DVR to record the two episodes. I will also not be online these days either.

Until then, Bon Voyage to you guys!
Enjoy yourself; everyone needs a vacation sometimes, even a vacation from TV.

Hi... Today's review.
Episode 4166: Max the Magician's Mathemagic Tricks.
Air Date: August 18 2008.
Season: Season 39.
Sponsors: C, 4.
Word on the Street: Subtraction.
Street Story.
Max's theme music sounds oddly reminiscent of the instrumental theme from the movie Unnecessary Roughness.
Max: "You went to the magician's correspondance school too didn't you. I thought I recognized you."
Film/Song: Subtraction.
Animation/Song: I'm Curious.
Letter of the Day: Elmo the Magician makes C disappear in front of Chris.
Construction Site Animation: Hey, it's the letter C!
Segment: C: Circle.
Murray Has a Little Lamb: Going to Soccer School.
Animation/Song: The Flower Dance.
GD, they still have this as part of Sesame's sketch rotation? It burnses!
Number of the Day: Elmo the Magician just shows up to count 4 carrots.
Looks like he's been learning from Mumford's classic routines.
Unknown Animation with an Indian/Arabian music: Counting to 4.
Unknown Segment with music similar to Bugs Bunny's working the Acme Puff Cereal: It's the number 4, yep, it's 4.
Bert & Ernie's Great Adventures: Out in Space.
Song: Everybody's the Same, is this the right name for this song?
Animation: Conductor gets his instruments to cooperate.
Elmo's World: Violins.
Chris tries on the magician's costume as he presents the sponsors, and then gets undone by the pesky spotlight.

This episode--from the synopsis posted--seems too Elmo-centric for my likening.

The first segment, I like to call Egyptian Diorama 4 (I don't think it's the official name, but it is an Egyptian diorama)

The Second would be the acrobatic/ stage performance team that makes shapes behind a screen with their bodies again. Anyone know what the name of this group is, and if it is them indeed? I know they also did the K sketch earlier.

Anyway, Great story episode, nice Murray and Ernie and Bert segments... and I like how the sponsers linked to tyhe story... but most of the filler was pretty dull. The Flower Dance is the low point of the season so far, even though it is a rerun (which I have to say is a good sign. It's a weak sketch anyway).

But Will Arnett was hillarious. Just as I suspected, he plays a terrible magician who isn't really all that magical. But Chris and the kids had a nice sense of humor about it, as did Will. It's nice to see he got out of the arrogant jerk routine he usually does (and wonderfully as well).

And I love that old Spotlight gag.

Max: "You went to the magician's correspondance school too didn't you. I thought I recognized you."
I love how Chris quickly quips back to him, "No, it wasn't me!" lol!

But I thought today episode story was th weakest one by far but it made me laugh the whole time so That's a plus and gets bonus points form me! Loved how he was throwing everything away and cutting the string and they were so amazed and really loved the end where Max disappeared and they were all asking Chris how he did it and he was trying to get out of explaining as he didn't know. Plus I love how Max was saying how he was going to do such an amaizng trick that nobody would figure it out and then vanished into thin air with out even a thought! Love Murrray today! It sound like that are starting to pick up on the energy and enthusiasm in the sketch! I actually enjoyed watching the first part a more then I usually do. And the pare and Soccer school was hilarious! Also really love Ernie and Bert adventure today. Loved how the Bertliens were so much funny then the real Bert and their laugh cracked me up so hard! Also really love the Elmo Magician bit for the letter and number of the day! That was classic Elmo!:zany: Loved how the played the classic music after after Elmo ate the carrot and ran, haha! Loved the "SPOT LIGHT! ! !" bit at the end and how it came back to where Chris was standing after was chasing after it and he gave up and went home, lol! All in all another great episode today!

I wonder why they chose to include a new magican character when Mumford hasn't seen the light of day since The Street We Live On aired.

Ah la Peanut Butter Sandwiches! *disappears*

Amen. Mumford's been dead/retired for three seasons now, even though he's a popular character with a still-living performer. The guy even did math tricks back in the day (and at least attempted real magic, unlike Max).

The last episode that featured him shrank Big Bird down to size, so to speak.
