I had no clue Kermit couldn't be used in anything that wasn't a crowd scene or a walk on. The only other times I can remember Kermit having a minor role in a sketch is The one from 2001 or so when he introduces Keb Mo, The Song Subway from the 70's and 40 blocks from my home.

I agree... dull episode. The best part was Luis getting pelted with the elements. Once again, fitting up to Jim Henson's legacy of comedy, put dignity last.

Other than that,. virtually everything was re-used, and not even fun stuff. The Cookie segment was okay, but, like is that Amy girl from SNL (as in the current one)? Cuz she's not funny at all to me. And what was worse was they used BOTH boring pattern segments in that annoying "Time to Play" bit. They talk soooo s l o w in that one and repeat it over and over and over and over and over. And they had an Ernie's show and Tell segment. I hate those. I mean, I LOVE Ernie, but he's no good unless he's funny in some aspect. You can't do that kinda stuff he does to Bert (and once, Grover) to little kids.

BTW, have there been any new Global Grovers this season? They all seem like they're just repeats of last season.

Drtooth: The Icelandic segment is new, and I heard three or four others were coming (though I don't know how long some of the ones that aired this season have been around).

Daffyfan: I've seen a few old Kermit clips on Plaza Sésamo, all right; I'm still not sure what the terms of that agreement between Disney and Sesame Workshop were, beyond "no new clips".

That's true. Other than the street story, the only new sketch was the one with Cookie Monster and the apples. You'd think he'd know what an apple is by now. I did like Luis getting pelted. It's like those Road Runner cartoons, when Wile E. Coyote sets up the catapault. No matter where he stands, he still gets hit with the rock. The same deal went for Luis and the water.

One Fine Face Remake

It was good to see Luis in a more classic routine today. Something you'd see on SS in the 70's and 80's. Especially now since the Fix it Shop is back. The thing I don't understand though is why did they show the remake of One Fine Face? What's wrong with the original with Ernie and Elmo? They still have a routine Ernie spot on the show where they still sometimes show clips from around that time (1985) and Elmo is the most popular charachter on Sesame Street these days. Who cares if he was a little scruffier looking back then, or his voice was scratchier. I doubt that would really make a difference to kids.

Not sure about today's SS

I at first thought today's SS was going to be a rerun, because I saw that squareheaded guy from SS Squares come out, then when I came back from changing Johnathan, Elmo was wearing the squarehead hairdo, (how in the name of Guy Smiley did he get to be a game show host) so I knew it was not a rerun, but I didn't know what had happened. I missed the rest because Megan wanted to see a video of Dora The Explorer before going to preschool, and since she had gotten dressed fast and was all ready and even her potty training was improving, I decided to let her see it. I ended Dora just in time for Elmo's World about the weather.

Everybody else's reviews about today's SS are not too favorable, but I would still like to know how the squarehead and Elmo switched hairstyles. Also I missed the sketch about Cookie Monster and the apples. I also missed seeing whatever happened to Luis. Oh well there will always be reruns in the summer.

I agree with everyone else. Dull, dull, dull. Not even worth commenting on. Not the best episodes to air before a hiatus. At least the last few episodes of the season look good. But November seems very far away....

Yeah. Plus, my station will probably air the eps from earlier in the season next month, (The ones they were supposed to play this month) so I might have to wait until December or January to see the eps that are scheduled for November.

By the way, all of the music from the first 21 episodes of Sesame Street Season 37 is now playing on Muppet Central Radio. We're also playing some Sesame tunes for the Halloween season. Have a listen and enjoy.

Calm down, MinorMuppets.

Yes, I understand what you're saying...
The song style was definitely 50's-ish.
The animation style, as I remember it, was more in line with the stuff from 1990's though. Cleaner and neater than the rough yet radical sketchwork from the 70's.
But you might be right and I might be wrong, or viceversa... Let's just agree to mutually and peacibly disagree... At least, I'll bow to your knowledge/info if it is correct versus mine.
Peace. Oh, and review coming soon.
I've watched Sesame Street since at least 1971, but never saw the "Fifteen" cartoon until the mid-90s. (It's one of the best recent number-teaching clips, in my opinion: I loved the play on "being fifteen" and having the number sing a doo-wop ballad in a lonely teenager's voice.)

By the way, that cartoon could not have been more than 12-15 years old (between the animation style and the number it taught). Older episodes wouldn't have had a cartoon specifically about 15: the numbers 0, 1, and 13-21* never "sponsored" Sesame Street until the early 1980s.

----

* Yes, two episodes in the mid-90s had 21 as the number of the day (I saw both myself). It's a shame that never happened again, though!
