That new tongue is awesome MC! I may have to follow suit when I get the time. For now I just cut out a flat tongue from a foamie sheet. It suffices for when his mouth is closed, but that's hardly ever so his fat tongue stays in most of the time.

Anybody else get their MR Animal recently? I just really can't stop staring at him!

Thanks guy! I know how you feel. I can't emagine what it is going to be like next year when we get the others. I may have to move out a whole room just for them and sit and stare them all day. I am so into these two that I have, I want more! :concern:

If I would have known you could see that cheesy white plastic eyebrow thing when the brow is open, I never would have ordered him today. Just terrible. *gulp*

It is really not that bad. Just a little marker and your done. It really could have been worse. For mine, I used more fur to cover mine up and I am happy with it. :halo:

The problems with Animal, oversized tongue, untameable hair and white plastic eyelids are very minimal. It's a still a nice figure that is really close to the real thing. Fingers crossed for a long continuation of this line!

I get you and can't wait to get mine in a few weeks. I do understand the frustration when it comes to such a glaring discrepancy. Not everybody is creative (even with a marker). When you lay down 400 bucks for an item it's expected that these basic pesky issues would be resolved. I know that such things are commonplace in the world of collectibles, but the Muppet collectors have always been a different breed. I don't know why that is, but have learned to accept it.

Great work on the tongue, by the way! I'm anxious to see the color/shading and mouth closure variations in your photos!

honestly, I don't mind modding my Muppet. If I am not capable to do so, I would have just left him the way he was. But for me, I feel that I got enough in me to go further with Animal. The more I work with him, the more he is starting to look like Animal. I just chopped a little off of his beard yesterday, and today, I am going to dye his tongue. About his mouth closing, it closes a little bit better. There is still a opening, but not as big as with the original tongue that he came with. With the new tongue that I made him, it is more flatter, but the same shape. The color, well, Terry told me to try using a sample piece of the foam. I need to find the right color that I am looking for. So this is what I will be doing....playing chemistry now LOL. The color that he used is Rit Rose Pink, this is going to be interesting. I will post pictures sometime this week. :halo:

I'm sure Terry's right about the color. Just know that most any PMS color that would come from Henson or Disney is based on a logo/cartoon/drawn version of the character - not the puppet. Considering foam density, lighting and different materials I'd probably "eye-it" to get it just right. You've done such a careful job sculpting that beautiful tongue already. Will you coat it with something upon completion to seal in the paint? :halo:

I believe the puppets tongue is more of a red, and there is some black air brushing happening on the tongue divide that kind of feathers out, almost as if the tongue is dirty.

I would love to find something to coat it in general. I don't know what they have for foam to coat it . Any ideas?
