Okay, here's something to take into consideration:
We've discussed the ratings system (and it's merits, or lack thereof) on MC plenty of times, but something recently just struck me odd about the ratings system. . . .
We have PG-13 and we have TV-14.
Similarly, we have NC-17, and we have 18+.
How did they come up with these? I mean, do they seriously believe that somehow one year age difference is significant enough to warrant these types of separate ratings? Are 13 and 14-year-olds so vastly different that something that may be okay to subject 14-year-olds to may be too much for a 13-year-old to handle? Likewise, what would be so horrible that apparently 18-year-olds can handle, but not 17-year-olds? Is it like driving? Is there such a difference in these ages that, in a sense, PG-13 or NC-17 is like your learner's permit, and TV-14 and 18+ are like getting your driver's license?
And what's the deal with M and MA? What happens with the M that they have to slap an A next to it?
