Hi, this is my first post-so I'm a stranger to you all. But--my sister raises Shetland sheep. Their wool is extra long and comes in multiple colors--if you want dreads, hehe, they come they way pre made! Get the raw wool from spinning and 4-H clubs--you won't have any trouble finding some--probably too much. It smells a little like sheep--use lots of dish soap-maybe some conditioner even. The colors are so cool--works good for beards on people,too.
