Hey Ziffel, let us know how it goes when you're up to it and then we can turn this thread into a wisdom teeth story thread! Once again, good luck and you'll be just fine!

Hey everyone. Been 48 hours now since I got rid of my wisdom. Ouch, I shouldn't have done a BIG grin yet, still too painful!
It went pretty well. The worst part on Thursday was the queasiness afterwards from the effects of the anesthesia. Yesterday had some swelling and soreness set in and today it is more intense, which they said could be expected on the second or third day. But with pain medication, ice, salt rinses, and rest I'm makin' it through. The worst is the lower left jaw. I am really swollen there (look like a real chipmunk now!). They say the upper wisdom teeth are often less painful extractions than the lower.
Anyway, thanks so much everyone for your prayers. I know it made a difference. (ahhh much more comfortable smile there!)

It should only be a matter of a couple more days and then you'll be able to smile bigger! Glad to hear it went well, the worst is over! Enjoy lots of ice cream!

Whew been a rather rough weekend, but the intense lower jaw pain is a little better today than it was yesterday. Also keep feeling pretty weak, tired, and sluggish but sleep and rest is a good thing for the healing. Hopefully tomorrow will be noticeably better. In a few minutes I'm going back to  Goodnight fellow muppet fans!

Yeah, keep it easy. My brother and sister had them before me, and they didn't do as well as I did. But they still turned out a-okay. ^_^ I was lucky I only spent the day of getting them removed and the day after in bed, mostly cause I just felt like being lazy and had gotten the day off school anyway. Unfortunately I missed getting an award at school, but eh. And feel lucky about one thing, you just had them removed, when I did it, they also had to pull a took and attach a hook to a tooth that wasn't coming down. Ugg, had that thing sticking out ofmy gum for two weeks before the tooth finally came down. (Had to get braces so a chain could pull it down and make sure everything remained straight. -_-)

Again I say WHEW, the pain is lasting on a little relentlessly. It's been 5 days now since I lost my wisdom. I think I may have a dry socket in the lower left. The literature said a dry socket is one of the most common side effects after wisdom teeth extraction and often develops on the 3rd-5th day after, and most commonly on the lower jaw. And that it is a deep, dull continuous pain. Well that fits what's been occurring the last couple of days. Ouch! I just got my pain medication refilled. Yesterday I tried to abstain from it in order to avoid the drowsy, yucky feeling. But the pain is a little too intense to do that. I took off from work again today but since they are very shorthanded these days I plan to go in tomorrow. Fun!
I may have made the mistake of trying to eat some more solid food last night (tiny pieces of chicken, cooked carrots, mashed taters, and creamed spinach). May have aggravated it some more. So I'm back to all liquids. Problem is the stomach is hungry for some more substantial foods like meat. But I better not try and BITE off more than I can CHEW here. That could GUM things up. Then my family would be CRESTfallen. I should AIM instead to put a GLEAM in thier eyes.
Well thank you for listening to the latest on the recovery front, as well as the TOOTHLESS jokes!

Well, it's a bummer that you're still feeling some pain, but I'm glad to hear you're slowly up and about again. I think it was a good two weeks before I ate solid food again (I lost almost 15 pounds too!). Like I said enjoy lots of ice cream, at least it's a semi pleasant way of eating soft food!

Ha ha, very funny. Ho ho, it is to laugh. No seriously, you're pretty funny though.

What sort of gas were you given during the operation? My aunt relates stories to me of a "twilight sleep" and its horrible drug after-effects.

They gave me general anesthesia through an IV injection in my right hand. I felt nauseous through the afternoon afterwards.
Today I feel better, praise God. I went back to work for the first time. And yesterday I went to see the doc because I was concerned about having a possible dry socket. He said it wasn't a dry socket but just a lot of swelling. He irrigated it out (which hurt but afterwards seemed to really help!) and switched me to a more powerful antibiotic to help prevent infection. I'm starting to feel up to eating some more solids too, but not quite ready for a Philly cheesesteak yet!

Well, Ziffel, I hope you feel 100% soon. Just recently during my hospital visit, I had an IV as well- my bruise is massive. I also suffered from the problem of having a board tied to my left hand (to keep it stiff) and a big deal on my right, so I lost the use of my arms for a while there.
