I voted that he should stay. I don't remember the details, and I could be way off, but I think I read a long time ago that there was some friction between Miln and his family regarding Pooh while he was still alive. In any case, he blocked his childrens' inheritance, and I believe that his wishes should be followed.

Yes Disney has maybe OVERmerchandised Pooh in recent times, but I still think he should just stay where he is because I hate to say it, but Disney made him the loveable character we all know today. I LOVE the books, but I really love the cartoon too. Especially Tigger.

I heard in recent news that Disney plans to drop Christopher Robin and replace him with a female lead! Has anyone heard of this or got any further details on it?

I heard that too, but I think that is just silly, as true as it may be.

I'm already detecting a US/UK split here...

The bear belongs with the Milne's I have to say... just like Pooh the Swan did before him. The orginal stories have another level of much greater entertainment value for adults on top of the loveable characters.

Also, it tackles the issue of Chirstopher Robin growing up in a very touching way.

While we're on the subject of Pooh Bear, i think it's time we had a long-overdue word for Small the very small beetle who once got lost; all of Rabbit's friends and relations and also The Spotted or Herbaceous Backson...

I'll be honest: When I worked at the Disney Store there was a HUGE over-saturation of Winnie The Pooh and much more of Pooh than there was of Mickey Mouse! Ack! I always loved Pooh, but that made me dislike him and the other characters.

Now that I'm away from it all, I like him again. The book(s) are best, of course, as originally written, but the Diz version is loveable, too. Especially Eeyore.

I felt that way too. On the one hand, I did grow up watching the televised specials and the wonderfully done "new adventures of Winnie the Pooh" series... but then I saw a Pooh dressed up as one of the 101 dalmations and I almost puked (especially since I was angry they didn't have any Emperor's new Groove toys).

but it's the same problem that people like myself have with Elmo as well. Too much oversaturation kills the character to some people.

I couldn't stand what WB did to Tweety and dressed him up like a girl to sell girl's clothing. Rest assured, Tweety IS a boy (and even made a crack about it on an episode of Sylvester and Tweety Mysteries). Now I see Baby Looney tunes and Loonatics umleashed... scarey.

And I truely can't stand the "Hello Kitty-esque" Pooh merchandise that creaped up last year.

So, as much as I like some of what disney has done, I'd rather it go back to the creator's family.... cuz trust me... I wouldn't want that to happen to me.

Yeah! Who's bright idea was that to give the characters an anime look to them?! I see that stuff all the time at DL stores and avoid them completely. And I like anime, too! I have a Choco Cat plush attached to my backpack, always thought he was a cute kitty. But, Disney anime? Mmmmmmnope, don't think so.

there NOT really even "anime" ther called "Disney Cuties" its a line thats quite populer for teen girls age's 11 - 18. I see LOTS of it (not like i use to tho )at Disney store. Hot Topic has it more. The line was orig for Hot Topic Store's but sold so good Disney started putting it in there Parks and Stores to sell.
