I'll be honest: When I worked at the Disney Store there was a HUGE over-saturation of Winnie The Pooh and much more of Pooh than there was of Mickey Mouse! Ack! I always loved Pooh, but that made me dislike him and the other characters.
Now that I'm away from it all, I like him again. The book(s) are best, of course, as originally written, but the Diz version is loveable, too. Especially Eeyore.
I felt that way too. On the one hand, I did grow up watching the televised specials and the wonderfully done "new adventures of Winnie the Pooh" series... but then I saw a Pooh dressed up as one of the 101 dalmations and I almost puked (especially since I was angry they didn't have any Emperor's new Groove toys).
but it's the same problem that people like myself have with Elmo as well. Too much oversaturation kills the character to some people.
I couldn't stand what WB did to Tweety and dressed him up like a girl to sell girl's clothing. Rest assured, Tweety IS a boy (and even made a crack about it on an episode of Sylvester and Tweety Mysteries). Now I see Baby Looney tunes and Loonatics umleashed... scarey.
And I truely can't stand the "Hello Kitty-esque" Pooh merchandise that creaped up last year.
So, as much as I like some of what disney has done, I'd rather it go back to the creator's family.... cuz trust me... I wouldn't want that to happen to me.
