I would like to see it, but I'm not holding my breath either.

You know, I'd love a "Next Generation" type show too... I'd like that for the Smurfs as well. There are so many possibilities for bringing back Fraggle Rock in that kind of format.

I agree that if Fraggles ever returned that they should be new characters. Doc and Sproket have moved away, and Gobo, Wembly, Boober, Red, and Mokey should not try to make a come back (especially without Jerry as Gobo). A new group of Fraggles, Gorgs, and Human world characters would be fun and has a lot of possibilites. The newer puppeteers such as Bill, Brian, Kevin, and Eric could also get their hands and personalites into the characters. The concept of the Rock was (and still is) great and has a lot of possibilites.

I'd want to keep Wembly and Boober still. If it were a new series like the idea of keeping some of the old. Like when Worf went to Deep Space Nine. A touch of the old to the new is good. Even having red return would be nice. How old is Karen Prell anyway?

Some of the classic characters could still be around as secondary characters (maybe as older fraggles) who act as mentors to the new gang of fraggles; give advice, and share stories from their adventures as youth down at Fraggle Rock (may be even though in flash-backs to the classic episodes in their stories). Seeing an older version of the Fraggles would be fun.. Junior Gorg could now be the father and his son(s) or daughter(s) could be hunting the fraggles now.

That's what I think exactly!

I think (and this is just MY opinion, after all, what do I know?) that if they were to do that, they should have new characters and let them have their own adventures. The older characters would still be around (it would not be the same without them), but it wouldn't be directly about them.

I don't know if it would be such a good idea though, bringing them back after so many years. It might not be the same... :sympathy:

It seems that the Jim Henson Compnay is now using the fraggle gang when they do a press release as they are the last muppet character left with the company. Frankly I don't think it's right to use these characters for promotion of the compnay when the compnay hasn't used them in many years. So, I think there should be soime kind of new production, like a special or a movie or even a new show. Does anyone know of any plans to make any kind of new fraggle production?

My only thought on this is that if they do it right, then that's great. How to do it correctly is the issue though. I'd highly recomend the Henson folk looking into getting as many of the orignial writers & performers as they can get in on it and ESPECIALLY Dennis Lee and Phillip Balsam ( I hope I got those names right ) to write the songs and music. I'm not sure Fraggle Rock could work without their style of music. They know how to write music and they know what Fraggle Rock sounds like.

As for content, the trouble with that is that Fraggle Rock ended where it should have ended; leaving us wanting more. Also, how can they possibly top the ideas they brought forth in the last few episodes? Especially " Change of Address ". Whether they knew it or not, the writers of the series, particularly towards its end, tackled some very profound concepts. Even now, I still am deeply amazed when Gobo has his revelation about everything being magic if one sees it that way. That's a concept that is so difficult for my mind anyway to truly appreciate. ... and when I can keep my focus on that thought and others like it... it just makes me wonder why the people of the world aren't ... always happy. The team of writers for Fraggle Rock were on to something.

Anyway, with all that being blabbered about, I dunno for sure what should happen as far as new material goes. Young Travelling Matt stories are a cool idea. It would be cool to see Gobo & friends in Outer Space though... but, once they learn how troubling the World of the Silly Creatures really is, I think they may prefer to stay in the caves. It'd be hard to write new fraggle stories without them being too... " adult " in content. ( I still think Gobo and Red should become a couple ). :smirk:
