So...in April I noticed my computer was running slow. I had a friend of a friend look at it and he said I had like 700 viruses on it (Where's Dr Bob when I need him?)! He fixed it and put like 2 or 3 Anti-Spyware/Virus Protection thingies on it. It worked great up until this weekend. I noticed it was going slow again. I downloaded Sims 2, Sims 2 University, & Sims 2 Nightlife from the original cds my friend let me borrow. I was able to use the internet during various parts of the day. But last night I couldn't log into MSN Explorer, MSN Messenger, Yahoo Mail, Yahoo Messenger, or Facebook. Every other site works though so I know it's not a problem with the internet connection.

Anyone have any idea what the problem could be?

First of all, Sims 2 rocks.

Second, try defragging? That might help it go faster... and make sure you aren't running anything else if you have TS2 open.

I don't know what to tell you for not being able to login to messengers and such. Same thing happened to me... but I got a new computer around that time so it wasn't a problem. :/

You might be low on disk space. Try removing any programs you do not use, do disk cleanup, run the spyware programs, and then do a disk defrag. Hope that helps.

Thanks guys! I've tried all of those things. Nothing's helped yet.

I ran a Network Diagnostics for Windows XP. This is what comes up...
"Windows cannot connect to the Internet using HTTP, HTPS, or FTP. This is probably caused by firewall settings on this computer. Check the firewall settings for the HTP port (80), HTTPS por (443) and FTP port (21)."

I don't know anything about firewalls though.

That probably makes sense as to why you cannot connect to certain sites. Don't know anything about firewall settings though so I can't help you. Sorry.

Thanks anyway! Least I can still come in here and now my SIMS is faster this time rather than the first time I installed it like two years ago!

It's probably all those virus protection programs you installed... they usually have firewalls. And make sure your Windows firewall isn't blocking msn and yim. Go to Control Panel >> Network And Internet Connection >> Windows Firewall. Make sure msn and yim are checked under the exception tab.
