I hear a lot about "The Five" around here, and know who the first four are, but I've always heard people with differing opinions on exactly who "Number Five" is...so, let everyone know who your Number Five is: Rowlf, Animal, Scooter, or someone else?

1. Kermit
2. Fozzie
3. Piggy
4. Gonzo
5. ?

For me, it's always been Rowlf. :sympathy:

Scooter

Although I'd welcome Rizzo or Pepe too.

Rizzo. Though Pepe, Scooter, and Rowlf are nice choices, Animal is a one-dimensional character, not fitting for a top listing, whereas the top four are a lot more developed. I think Henson was trying to make Animal the number five before Pepe came around, but now it's really Pepe or Rizzo, to me Rizzo.

Depends on the context.

If we're talking strictly about The Muppet Show series, it would be Scooter.

In terms of merchandising/character branding it would be Animal.

Throughout the 90's it would have been Rizzo. Pepe's taken that slot in the 00's though it's really more a "take two, they're small" shared slot.

My thoughts exactly.

I guess it was Scooter in the Show, but it was Rowlf in the early movies...Or just the Mayhem Band in general. It's obviously Pepe/Rizzo as one now.

I think in the show it alternated between Scooter and Floyd. Most often Scooter.

In The Muppet Movie I would say it was Rowlf... or maybe Sweetums.

The Great Muppet Caper... Gosh, is there a fifth in The Great Muppet Caper? The other Muppets seem to have equal screentime to me.

The Muppets Take Manhattan I think is when Rizzo became the fifth.

I always thought the best main characters were as follows:

Kermit
Fozzie
Gonzo
Miss Piggy
Scooter
Floyd

To me, that's the importance (for lack of a better word) of the characters on The Muppet Show.
