ALL the Fraggles have deteriorated. The foam they were made from rotted out, and when you'd insert your hand into the puppets you'd pull it out with little balls of foam, and the inside of the puppet would break apart.
No, Gobo! *holds up foam parts* Poor Fraggles, if only there was a way to make foam last through the ages...

Anyway, do you think the original muppeteers would be willing to perform the Fraggles again? And then there is the voice. Peoples voices can change over time and even if they were able to get all the muppeteers the characters might not sound the same.

God, if Karen Prell (Red) were that willing, we could have beautiful new commentary footage! Dave Goelz (Boober) and Steve W. (Wembley) would also be willing. I dunno about Mokey's voice (Karen Mullen) and Jerry Nelson (Gobo), although JN would have to relinquish the role of Gobo to somebody else. But, that is a new idea that HIT! needs to look very seriously at!

I would think they could still do the voices, but they would obviously have someone else taking over Jim Henson, Richard Hunt, and Jerry Nelson's roles now. As has been mentioned in another thread, they are auditioning performers to carry on Nelson's characters. :frown:

I'm sure the cast would be willing but i doubt Henson would want to rebuild the Fraggles unless there was a TV show for them, and HIT! sure as heck isn't going to pay for all that in addition to all the studio production fees just for an extra on a $15 DVD. The cast (or any number of them) could just do audio commentary in their own voices, and if they felt the need to slip into a character voice if they can still do it that'd be all the better. We don't know if something even like that is possible with them yet, i think it'd be great though.

Jerry is still doing the Count, and some Muppet Characters. I think he could come back for Fraggle extras. I just think he doesn't want to daily work load of sesame street, and is looking to the future when he won't be able to continue the characters and wants to make sure they are in good hands (or good hands are in them). He is not gone, he's just steping back.

How sad to learn that none of the fraggles still exist. Are all of the gorgs gone also, or were they made of materials other than foam? I know that the gorgs heads were very elaborate with the cameras and the monitors inside for the actors who were wearing the suits.

Princess Melora (screenname of Noel McNeill's wife) said they were doing auditions for his replacements. Though, you could be right if he's taking in understudies like Carroll Spinney did with Matt Vogel (?) to take over Big Bird and Oscar.

Yeah apparently the insides need rebulilding completely. Although he didn't say how long ago it was when he saw them, would anything have been to done to preserve them more now (like new technology in storage etc) since then or would they still be subject to this decomoposition ?
