Was that back when you were still puttering on dial-up though?

The only real problem Photobucket has is that here a couple of years ago, they decided to compress certain pics that were uploaded to conserve space for the free users: jpg images have slightly lower quality, pngs are resized if they're over a certain size, but gifs seem to be left alone.

How DARE you not like an overrated book with poor writing! What is wrong with you? You have no soul if you can't relate to this disturbing fan fiction of some weirdo's desire to date a vampire. How can you NOT think Bella is the epitome of role models with her bleak outlook and constant depression, even when happy? You should be ashamed of yourself!
This made me have to suppress a really big laugh. Thank you!

Know what's even more disturbing? That the author is a tithing member of the Mormon church...who apparently won't say anything against her themes because she pays her dues? No personal offense intended to any LDS members here, but it does look rather questionable and hypocritical for them to accept her support after writing such stories.

I have nothing against vamps personally, apart from their inevitable blandness after a pop culture awash in them for a few years. Give me snarling Buffy baddies any day over wimpy sparkling twerps!

I hate it when kids 6 and below cuss. And that's coming from a 13 year old who hears it from kids her age at school, ALL the time.

Kids 6 and below are supposed to contain innocence more than anything!

Heck, I hate it when anyone does.

But I know what you mean...I was always the kid telling the rest of my class to quit swearing...sadder part was that it was even a Christian school...

Oh, I totally agree. I don't hate the 'new' stuff at all. I just noticed a lot of unfair hatred towards the 'old' stuff. But now that you mention it, there's just as much of this towards the 'new' stuff.
I don't think anyone can be well rounded if they can't appreciate old AND new. And I don't mean you should like everything of both eras. There's always something good, it just gets harder and harder to find sometimes. Not everything old is worthy of classic status, not everything new is shiny and perfect.

The problem is trends. We've always had them. Something becomes popular, and everyone has to copy it to cash in off its success. That's not a new concept by any means. Scooby-Doo was to be a complete knockoff of Archie (it still retains some of those attributes, Shaggy and Jughead are quite similar), and the 70's were filled with Scooby and Archie knockoffs. It goes further beyond that, but that's the example I often use.

You know, I've since moved onto something worse... that 50 Shades crap. They're trying to say that it's this groundbreaking book, when even the author has admitted it's Twilight Fan-Fiction with names changed. And it's that kind of fan fiction as well. The poorly written porno kind.

I swear... 50 Shades of Gray... You know that snobbish thing about how watching TV is not as good as reading a book? That book proves that's malarkey.

I had an unfortunate encounter up at school when I walked home from a dinner with an acquaintance of mine, and happened to ask "what have you been up to". She launched into a ten minute spiel about 50 Shades and how good the book was and how raunchy it was at points and blah blah blah. From what I understand, it's just smut. Nothing wrong with smut, but don't treat it like it's something more.

Oh yeah. I mean, it's cheap fan fiction, and that kind of fan fiction at that. Like Chip and Dale boinking Gadget for the sake of them boinking Gadget with no plot line. A kind of... well... I can't use the term. It's the term Stewie in Family Guy used for The DaVinci Code when he dismissed it before he read it. It's a that thing aid. Little more.

But what gets me into the completely perplexed "Should I laugh or should I be outraged" mode is thus. This porn book is embraced by Soccer Moms. And the kind of Soccer Moms that get up in arms about any adult cartoon ever and Archie, DC, and Marvel for having gay characters. At least be up in arms about that book. That's not even art. It's cheap smut. Not even good smut.

Aren't books like that specifically targeted at lonely women to arouse them anyway? Those kinds of books have been around for ages, they're usually categorized as "romance novels".
