In High School I refused to shorten my skirt too short because it just seemed kinda sexist how you "had" to shorten it for boys, hehe.
Sort of like how we guys would have to work out endlessly to get toned abs or whatever to impress girls, eh? XD Me, I just worked out, 'cause it was required & 'cause I was as skinny as a rail.

Lets see...in elementary school we started out not having to wear uniforms, then when I was in second grade I think that was when we had to wear uniforms. Of course we always had to wear gym uniforms. Our regular uniforms where...oh crap...I cant remember :embarrassed: I know girls had to wear skirts/skorts and boys could wear pant/shorts. Our gym uniform was a gold tshirt and navy sweatpants.

in 5-6 girls Had to wear golf shirts or turtlenecks (whichever they wanted to) and a sweater (again, if they wanted to) and boys had to wear said polo shirts and pants or shorts. I think girls were allowed to wear pants but no one did, and shorts where built...puffy. If you where thin you had no problem, but if you were not so thin (like me) then the shorts looked like balloons. Anyways...sweaters and pants and skirts where navy and the shirts/turtlenecks where a sky blueish color. gym we had to wear a sweatshirt or t shirt and sweatpants or sweatshorts, both a grayish color.

In 7-8 we had to wear white golf shirts and girls had to wear plaid red/white/navy kilt like skirts and boys could wear navy pants or shorts. Gym uniform was a green t shirt and gray sweatpants, sweatshorts, or basketball shorts. I liked the basketball shorts weven though I hated my theighs showing.

Now we get to wear whatever we want, but for gym we have to bring a seperate pair of clothes. No one likes to have to wear stinky and sweaty clothes in school :stick_out_tongue:

The only uniforms I had in Junior High--the only time I needed to wear uniforms, due to being in a Catholic private school--was slacks, church shoes, and the button down school shirt for Masses & red shorts and a school-related tee for gym. Otherwise, we could wear what we wanted, within reason (i.e. we weren't allowed to wear things that distracted people from their work).

Boys, oh gross. Tehehe. Just kidding, guys. :stick_out_tongue:

Actually I was never into the dating thing when I was in school. I never had a high school sweetheart, and most of the guys I knew were too immature for me to give them my attention (much less affection). I didn't meet anyone until I was close to graduating from college.

I just remember in high school how I had my interests and obsessions, but clothing was the least of my concerns. After a while I realized that doing things for the sake of coolness, was not cool, but was just the opposite. My favorite article of clothing from that time was a floral print blouse with puffy sleeves that was sort of what I considered vintage 60's. I found it at a yard sale and loved it. I wore that thing until it fell apart during my freshman year of college.

I guess my clothing styles are like that though, weird, but no one really knows what I will wear next. Never got into short skirts, I had too many bike accidents as a child to be able to wear a miniskirt without feeling self conscious about it.

Gah...I HATED those shoes we had tyo wear. They killed your feet and usually the top of your feet was roasting from being in the sun.

How true that is, lol. (Again, no offence, guys!) You're from Germany? I'm from the US, I guess things really are alike all over!

Not originally. I grew up in Texas, but I have lived over here for the last 13 years. My husband, who grew up here said that it is pretty much the same here, too. I think today the pressures are a lot greater than they were back in the 70's and 80's when I was in school.

That probably is true. Some of it may be that parents are having to work so much more and feel guilty. So they give their kids more as a compensation. I tend tothink that's where most of our problems come from.

Yeah. I did the hand me down thing too. My shoes were way out of date from ears again or cheap ones and I mean kids would not hesitate to ridicule me and condemn me and not want to be around me because I want wearing all the cool styles like them. They would always just pick at my clothes and put me under a microscope every day. But want was even worse then the picking about you hair style and everyhting was how people treated you in general. It was like you were some kind of weirdo. Like you went up to them or good enough to be as good as everybody else. Everybody would treat you like you were stupid or unintelligent and like you id know anythign or were behind them or something. I mean I even got called out by teachers telling me I needed to be more trendy or something as if I were being some kind or disturbance. That just how bad it was, and it was so behind my back that the teachers said I needed to do something. It was like I was some kind of bad rumor or something.:stick_out_tongue: By the way. I could not stand church shoes when I was little as well. But the have some pretty comfortable ones out as far as I know.
