Okay, everybody. As promised, here is your first sneak peek at the upcoming Ghostbusters/Muppets fanfic, "Who Ya Gonna Call?"....

As soon as the elevator stopped on the twelfth floor, the doors flew open and Scooter peeked out into the hall. “Looks like the coast is clear,” he said before stepping out cautiously, followed by the others.

At the end of the hall, two youngsters rounded a corner and ended up only several feet away from the Ghostbusters, who they hadn’t noticed at first. They were also residents of the hall and went by the names of Mimi (a haughty southerner with a heart of gold) and Riff (who was named after his skills as a musician).

“I think we should practice some more on that last tune, Mimi.” Riff stated. “Something about it didn’t sound too right.”

“And I think you’re bein’ too hard on yourself, Riff.” Mimi replied. “Not all music’s gonna sound the way you intended it to, once you start playin’ it.”

“I suppose you’re right.” Riff said. “But, still, I’d like to go back and try it again, after we grab some lunch from the…” Riff stopped as soon as he spotted the group down the hall, dressed strangely and wearing powerful machinery on them. “Would you look at that!”

Mimi followed his gaze, also spotting the group, and her eyelids went up in result of her surprise of seeing them there. “Well, ain’t that somethin’! Who…or what…would you suppose they be, Riff?”

“Fellow musicians, perhaps?” Riff assumed. “We do get a lot of strange ones around here at Faffner Hall.”

“Oh, no,” Mimi said, “They can’t be that.”

“Well, why not?”

“Because look at them funny instruments they’re carryin’. Now you tell me what kind of musician plays instruments like those?”

Riff looked closely at the machines on the group’s backs, noticing the lights, switches, buttons, and other unnatural things situated on them. Turning his focus back on Mimi, he answered, “Like I said before, Mimi…we’ve had weirder musicians come and stay here before.”

Mimi shook her head, still finding it hard to accept that the group was musicians. “Well, say if you’re right, then what would you call what their instruments are?”

“I dunno. The descendant of a xylophone?”

“Oh, Riff. Stop bein’ so silly!” Mimi exclaimed, and then she turned to the group down the hall and shouted out to them. “Hey! What ya’ll…?”

As soon as Stephanie heard the voice behind her, she whirled and fired a stream of protons from her wand. Christina and Scooter, so keyed up at the moment, also spun and fired wildly. Mimi and Riff ducked out of the way, as the particle streams blew past them and demolished a massive chunk of the wall and completely destroyed a window.

“WHOA! WHOA! WHOA! WHOA!” Jessica screamed. “CEASE FIRE! CEASE FIRE!”

Stephanie, Christina, and Scooter immediately done as Jessica commanded them and stopped firing. They looked across the hall to see the destruction they had just caused. What remained of that section was charred and blackened, while a gaping hole lied in the middle of it all, revealing a beautiful New York skyline that contradicted the nasty area.

Mimi and Riff, who had been crouched down on the floor, slowly and cautiously lifted their heads and just as relieved as the Ghostbusters were to find out that they were alive and unharmed. Mimi looked towards them and angrily asked, “Just what in the heck are ya’ll doin’?”

The Ghostbusters looked to one another in embarrassment and shock.

“Sorry.” Stephanie uttered.

“Sorry.” Christina said.

“Sorry about that.” Scooter stated.

“We thought ya’ll were somebody else.” Jessica added.

After looking at the strange and yet frightening group of people, Riff turned to Mimi and said, “You’re right. Definitely not musicians.”

Jessica turned and faced her team with an even more nervous look on her face. She did her best to show off a calm, collective smile. “Well, there you have it, ladies...and Scooter. A successful test.”

“Before we go any further, I think it’d be best if we split up.” Stephanie suggested.

“Good idea.” Christina agreed.

“Yeah,” Scooter said, “We can do more damage that way.”

The story comes to Muppet Central on March 25th!

Is it something you're writing? Or is it something you're pitching for me to write? Sounds like a good idea either way.

This teaser is excellent.

Jeany, you could write your story of them being agents in your own fan-fiction.

Try not to impinge that on Muppetwriter.

Or I can be your consultant on it, kind of like Ed ("The Count") is on some of my stories.

I said it was a great idea, but that doesn't necessarily mean that I agreed to write it. It sounds like a James Bond/Muppets tale, and to be honest, I'm not all that familiar with the world of James Bond. Yes, I've seen movies like Goldeneye, The Living Daylights, and Casino Royale (the Daniel Craig version), but not enough to help me work the Muppets with it.

Email me whatever ideas you have, and I'll help you get a start on it. How does that sound?

This teaser is excellent.
Thanks, sweetie. I promise that the one I post up on Valentine's Day will feature your character and mine together. I'm loving the scenes that I'm writing us into. They tell so much how I hope our relationship turns out in the future.

Thanks... The trailer was great. And hey, you brought in The Ghost of Faffner Hall. Hope it's not one of Farkas's plans to get rid of his great-ant Fughetta.

Looking forward to it as always buddy. And sorry it took me so long to get back home and post a small yay! reaction to this great sneak peak.

Hey, everyone. Just noticed that we have some new similes :smile:hungry:,:shifty:,:coy:). That's too cool!

Anyways, I just wanted to let everyone know that the Ghostbusters/Muppets story is coming along smoothly and should be ready with ten chapters total to post by March 25th. Seven chapters have been completed so far, and the second teaser will be posted (as promised) on February 14th (Valentine's Day), featuring characters based on myself and the love of my life, Claudia ("BeakerSqueedom").

It should be noted again that this story does contain PG-13 material, and it won't be like many of the stories (at least not the ones I've read) here on Muppet Central. It's given that rating mostly because of the crude humor in the story that sort of goes beyond the standards of Pepe the King Prawn. In fact, some of the jokes that won't make it into what will be posted on the boards will have to be reserved for the "Too MARVELOUS For Muppet Central" version of the tale.

But despite that, the story does stick to that light-hearted side of the Muppets that we're all familiar with. And if I could describe it in any terms, I'd say it was like another re-telling of a classic (i.e. Muppets Christmas Carol, Muppet Treasure Island, and Muppets' Wizard of Oz), which is pretty much how all of the stories in "Stranger Than Muppet Fan Fiction" are.

In other updates....

I've been turning to a lot of my friends on MySpace, some of which are already members of the forum, to participate in a series of ARGs (Alternate Reality Games) that I'm starting for the "MARVELOUS Muppets" series. So far, I've gotten Alissa, Terah, and my newest friend, Angelle (who will play a big role in the upcoming Iron Man/Muppets crossover). I'm still working on some more friends, both familiar and new, to participate in these games.

The games will pretty much work like this:

A thread will be started here in the Fan Fiction forum under the title of the game (ex. "Discovery of Iron Grosse: A 'MARVELOUS Muppets' ARG") with a message from the "MARVELOUS" character who started it (my friend from MySpace), stating her problem and asking for you (the viewers) to assist by sending emails or private messages of information useful to her mission.

If enough messages have been sent out, another message will be posted in the thread, updating everyone on the mission and asking for more help. This process will be repeated until the character declares her mission a success or a failure (in the event of a failure, there will be a sequel to the ARG, with either the same character or a different one).

If anyone has any questions or would like to be involved in these games in any way, just send me a PM or email me here: muppetman08@yahoo.com.

That's all I have for now. ^_^

Hmmm... Have you posted your intentions in the Game Suggestions thread? Sounds interesting. Looking forwar to the Ghostbusters story. BTW: Are the Gargoyles characters still involved? Cause if they are, then I'd recommend a story authored by Gold Demona posted at fanfic.net. It's got the Gargoyles characters as the main thrust, but there are franchisal characters strewn throughout the entirety of the narrative that I know you'd like. Can forward the zip file to your addy if you want... LMK and it'll b on its way.
Take care buddy.
