Whatever happened to Granny Fanny Nesselrode?

Granny Fanny Nesselrode is the lavender-colored anything muppet that was played by Jim Henson and was shown on Sesame Street in the early 70's. In her cameo appearance in the movie Follow That Bird, she had a tongue and was a rod puppet where she sees Big Bird falling down. Now, she is quite disappeared. Why did the SW producers got rid of her?
