My current tv habits...

Except for Muppet/Henson shows i mainly don't make a conscious effort to tune into/set my dvr for anything. I've pretty much just gotten to the point where i'll wait for stuff to come out on dvd.

The only current exceptions to this are "Melrose Place" - that was must see tv for me in the 90's and i was one of the viewers that watched the show in its original run from beginning to end. The new version really suffers in comparison and i don't expect it to last long but i do tune in to see what they're doing with the older characters (not much)

The other exception is One Life to Live. I've been a huge fan since 1992 (even though up until then i had never been a daytime soap watcher and can't see myself ever switching to another one) and even though i stopped watching for a time around 97-01, i since have become a regular viewer and have seen the show through its best and its worst. Happily right now the show is in the "best" category and has generally been since Ron Carlivati became head writer in Sept 2007.

Even though i always watch anyway - i'm really making a point to tune in and spread the word to others since a network insider leaked to the press that One Life to Live may be on the chopping block in 2010 (and came dangerously close this last year). Soap fans and press are pretty much outraged since OLTL is seen as one of the highest quality soaps still on the air and deserves to be one of the last ones standing as opposed to the next victim of rapid extinction. This is also pretty disturbing since the show is really on fire right now. It's too good to lose!

At least it's not been the lowest rated of the ABC soaps this year (All My Children's taken that place and its felt that the show really is an absolute mess) and news also recently came out that OLTL has been delivering record breaking numbers for SoapNet during third quarter 2009 Nielson's. So i'm hoping it stays around for a good number of years...and am enjoying the heck out of it in the meantime!

Actually one more confession - since the Disney Channel is my "default" channel for the tv to be on just due to possible random Muppet sightings, i will admit that i've recently gotten very hooked on Phineas and Ferb.

Phineas and Ferb is actually a guilty pleasure of mine as well. It's actually very cleverly written and the music in every episode is a welcome treat. And really, any show with a secret agent platypus is worth my time. :stick_out_tongue:

Yeah i agree. For a long time i really ignored it just because a lot of Disney animation never really struck a chord with me but the show has outstanding writing and its clear they have a huge respect for a lot of classic animation. Phineas reminds me so much of quite a few friends from the past and i love how unlike so many kids (animated or live action) on television these days, the characters are well rounded and not obnoxious brats. Even though there's an adversarial relationship between the sister and her (step)brothers, there's also a huge amount of love underneath on both sides and a lot of heart in the show overall.

I always keep Food Netywork or Nickelodeon on as my default channels.
