What Really Happened to the "Around the Corner" set? (literally)

Well, the AtC set was dropped from the show after Season 29 , but what did the studio do with the whole AtC set? Did they destroy it or did they just put it in storage? It really doesn't make sense to destroy it, since it did look very expensive to even build. So does anyone have a clue of what happened after the set was no longer in use?

It may have been expensive, but that set had been used regularly for four years, so it's not like a very expensive set was built for one sketch and then destroyed or anything like that.

Here's my educated guess:

The Around the Corner set was probably dismantled and put in storage either in or near Kaufman-Astoria Studios.

The area past Big Bird's nest, where the Furry Arms Hotel, Celina's Dance Studio, and Finder's Keeper's sets were is widely known to be an open stage where Elmo's World is taped, blue screen segments are produced (like Journey to Ernie), and Ernie/Bert sketches performed.

I've noticed where Around the Corner used to be lies a white Volkswagon. And the subway that was once part of Around the Corner had been moved right next to the Fix-it Shop.

Still, I think they should bring back the Furry Arms Hotel. Lot's of interesting stories came from that place. Maybe it could stick around just like the library that seems to be off the street somewhere.

I've noticed where Around the Corner used to be lies a white Volkswagon.

That's a Volkswagon, but it's not a white one, it's actually Oscar's Sloppy Jalopy, and he now parks it furthur up, if you ever see shots of down the street from the arbor, you can see a long wooden fence stretching down the end of the street in front of a backdrop of distant apartment buildings. Oscar now parks it in front of that fence.

Now then, if ANYONE has a good eye (and I would know this since I maintain a scale model of Sesame Street), the store front that served as Finders Keepers is repainted, and now serving as the backwall of that little alleyway next to Big Bird's nest (notice how the double doors are now painted red with yellow and orange letters on them? And the window next to them has also been painted red with an orange letter 'K' on it?
